Well, disaster struck!! The driver side door opened during a right turn (10-15 mph) and went beyond the limits of the door opening. A pop sound was heard and the door was stuck in the open position. The Ferrari repair shop tried adjusting the hinges but the door is still off by 1/2 inch and sags at the latch area. I was told that I should go to the body shop but there is no outside damage to the door or fender. Just wondering if the section of the latch inside the door is welded or bolted. Also is there a spring that could have snapped to keep the door from sagging. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance Cheers!
Examine the limits bar which also has a closure spring, hopefully the end pin let go... The actual hinges are pretty robust, but after an event like yours jacking the tail end of the door upward, to make up a half on inch of downward sag would not be unheard of....
Thanks Big Tex! I was thinking of the same thing. With foot long piece of 2x4 under the door sill and an auto jack. Just didn’t want to make things worse. I will work slowly and check the results every step of the way. wish me luck. cheers!
