    Hi everybody, does anyone have any info on Nick Forza's adjustable timing belt system with light weght tensioners for the 308/328 Ferraris? He claims that the belts won't have to be changed before 60K miles? If this is true, I getting the set before my next major service. Anyone with info? Thanks guys.

    Except the valve clearances will need checking as well as the leaking cam seals...and then theres the water pump seal. Waste of money....

    if any of the seals leak then address them when needed, it's not like they fail right at the 3yr mark every time or consistently. you can still adjust your valves and not have to disassemble the front of the motor. they also give you the ability to change the cam timing in less than an hour and the new belt design is better suited to high rpm's and greater torque. the belt profile that ferrari used was replaced by the SAE back in 1977 as technology moved forward. the new profile is current from 2004.

    'proof in the pudding' a very reputable and known Ferrari service center saw my setup and told me they would not use them becouse it extends the service life to long and would keep the customer away, i.e. a loss of income. bottom line, when a good product comes along and disrupts the 'planned obsolescence' some places are none to happy or accepting.

    I'm getting mine from Scott not because I really care about extending the belt change interval... I'm getting it because it uses a MUCH more modern, ROBUST belt design than what was around 20-30 years ago. Ease of adjusting cam timing is frosting on the cake.

    Nicks pulleys were built by Scott, (smg2). The 60K figure is only a guess as there are still other factors involved. The belts are still made of rubber so time is still a factor, but its not nearly as critical as the OEM belts as these new belts have a longer life expectancy. The tensioner pulley should still be replaced on a somewhat standard schedule. The OEM belts are rated at some rediculously low power figure of something like 14 HP. The new belts are rated at somewhere near 200 HP, over 10 times the strength. With belts that strong we should easily be able to run a 6 year schedule without a great deal of fear. The biggest gain is that we are now totally exempt from the 3 year time limit, without question, and even at 5 years we are still looking at a significantly reduced rate of failure. With outside sleeve's to enlarge the tensioners diameter to slow them down, those should have much greater life expectancy as well, making a 6 year schedule very realistic. As far as the cam seals, they should have no trouble making it 6 years if they are carefully inspected and installed correctly. The valve clearance should also be okay for 6 years depending more on mileage than time, so maybe 60K isnt a rediculous number?? They generally seem to tighten up over time so its probably best to adjust them on the high side for clearance. Myself I would feel safe staying at 30K or 6 years just to stay safe. Hardly anyone will put that many miles on in 6 years anyway.

    to answer the questions for fitments, yes the next run will have them available for the early 308's all the way to the 3.2. I'm getting 20 sets done now, if anyone is interested send me a PM, I have a list going already as they have become popular and since winters coming it's time for those services :) Final cost will be posted this week as I'm awaiting cost on some material. est. $1500 per
