So I'm just about done timing belts service on my 308. I'm just putting it all back together now and I notice that the ac tensioner wheel pulley doesn't spin as smoothly as I think it should. Has anyone replaced the bearing on this assembly? Is it something a DIyer can do or s the bearing press fit??? Finally where can one get the bearing, is it a standard size etc???

    Thx, Blaine

I did this 6 years ago and from memory there are two bearings in the pulley. It's easy enough to replace.I brought the bearing to a bearing shop and they gave me two replacement high speed bearings.
Wish you would have asked this question last week as I was cleaning out the garage and found one of the old bearings but I threw it away.

Thx Maurice, do you recall if you needed any special tools like a press for example?
    Thx again.

If you don't know how to do it, take the whole assembly to the bearing shop and ask them to do it for you. If they have the bearings in stock (which they should as they are standard bearings), they can press the old ones out and put the new ones in for you in about 10 minutes.

Again from memory,I put the pulley over a large socket and with a small drift hit one of the bearings out,by hitting it inside the centre of the bearing, then did the same with the other one which was easier.
I did press the new ones in with a bearing press.

There is a spacer between the two bearings inside the pulley. The bearings rest against a shoulder that is machined into the pulley. I use a bearing removing tool that is designed to remove motorcycle wheel bearings to remove the first bearing. You then remove the spacer and can press or drive out the second bearing from the backside. You then just press each bearing into its respective bore, just don't forget to put the spacer ring in between.
