    This is from 303's website:

(Notice it says its for "finished leather." Is that the same as "treated" leather? My 355's OEM Connolly is NOT treated like my new Lexus's leather. Does this make a difference?)

303 is THE LEADER in UV Screening Technology. 303 Aerospace Protectant really is like "SPF 40 Sunscreen ... For Your Stuff." Regular use gives 100% Prevention of UV caused slow-fade with regular use. No other "protectant" beautifies as intensely, protects as powerfully or lasts as long.

    The World's Most Manufacturer-Recommended Product:
Because of its enduring cosmetic properties, the resistance of 303-treated surfaces to dust, soiling, and staining, its water repellency and unparalleled protective characteristics, manufacturers worldwide recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant.
303 Aerospace Protectant keeps UV-sensitive materials "like new" year after year.

Use on Rubber: Tires, neoprene, latex, door and trunk seals, weather-stripping, EPDM rubber roofs, CV boots, waders, wet suits. Sorry, no Ferrari yet so I can't comment on Ferrari leather but hopefully soon. Here's my impression on the 303. This stuff is highly recommended on many of the detailing forums I visit. However, I see it recommended for the plastic portions of car interiors more than leather. I've been using it on my '10 ZR1, '10 CTS-V, '04 Tahoe, '08 Enclave and '07 XLR-V plastic interior bits for about a year. Leaves a nice sheen but I don't think I'd use it on leather. I've been using Lexol to clean the leather in my cars and then following that up with Leatherique. That seems to work well. The Leatherique seems to keep the leather supple and also prevent dirt from becoming embedded in the leather so it's easier to get it clean the next time you wash it with the Lexol. Did the Lexol/Leatherique treatment on a number of Tahoes we've owned for a number of years and I've got an '04 with seats that look almost new. They're supple with very little wear despite 80k on the clock. Anyway, I'd stay away from the 303 for leather.

I agree. I use it on rubber + plastic + vinyl bits sometimes but never on leather on my Porsche.

Answer- Don't know and don't trust till others who have used give their approval @ at least a yrs use. Give you a little story . Approx. 74-75 a rather new product had come on the market and everyone swore by it and it was called armoral. Well I had a beautiful Dino 246 at the time with red inserts( Daytona seats). Living in Fl. you certainly wanted to protect from ultraviolet etc. Well for first month 's use,it just looked great until weather got , to 80 plus, then a startling discovery-- Why is the back of your new white pants all red! Did everything possible to stop the bleed including resealing etc. The seats became like an instant thermastat, below 80 no bleed, above sticky and need a new pair of pants. The black PPT never bled.
Leatherique is a great product which I use exclusively on my current 360 , but even they say test before use. Unfortunely breakdown doesn't necessarily occur on the first use. Certain colors may not be affected as in my case above.

    Great answers. :)

I use Leatherique religiously on my 355. I was merely looking for some UV protection because I do have a Spider and I am not planning on redoing the leather unless I still have her in five years. Thus, I'd like to prevent any further shrinkage.

Does anyone know of any good UV protectant that is safe for unfinished leather like OEM Connolly?

303 is fantastic in the engine bay. I like to use an old, soft paint brush to spread it around.

As for your dash, Leatherique all the way.

Can't comment on leather use, but me too - I have been using it on engine bay, plastics, rubber. Its great stuff that leaves your surfaces with a look of a professionally detailed job. Its my favorite all around item.

Additionally, other product that works really nice for hoses and trim (as well as incredibly good on wheel wells) - check out Back 2 Black item - its great as well. Its available through detailed image. Not tied - in - just passing on some info.

    Best,
    Mike.

303 does a pretty good job of protecting leather but the protectant made my Leather Masters is often considered the up with the best of the best. I believe LM calls their protectant Vital??? Be careful googling Leather Masters. I found out the hard way that Leather Masters is a common Jargon term in the gay S&M world. Glad I wasn't at work when I was googling it.

I used it for six years on the leather in my black on black F250. The truck was too big to fit in a garage and so took direct sunlight every day for 6 years. When I sold the truck the leather was still dark black and looked great. I also used it on my F430 with tan daytonas and it worked great, nice sheen, no discoloration. There is no better UV protection, it gets used a great deal in the maritime industry.

You need to contact Ferrari and find out if the year model car you have is coated leather or raw dyed leather. If coated, then yes I would say you can use the 303 protection since leather coating is typically poly base but if not I would stick with traditional leather products such as Leatherique or Leather Masters.

More newer car's leather have the coating and older cars don't is my experience as a detailer.

I use 303 cleaner 10:1 ratio to lightly clean hides, but not to protect them, for that I use Zaino Z10, or Leatherique.

I use Leatherique regularly, but I am primarily concerned about UV Protection.
My 1999 355 has the OLD 4-digit Connolly color code (They changed the Cuoio color and color code in the 360 model) and from what I know, represents the older untreated leather.

So, I'm not worried so much about the cleaning or conditioning; I am looking for a viable and safe option for UV Protectant. :)

    Anyone...?
