It might be fun to own one - thoughts on one vs. the other???????
The main question is if you will break a tibia or collarbone first. Three wheelers thankfully have gone the way of the dodo for good reason.
350X 4 stroke air cooled = Fast and looks cool but can ride it like a normal ATV 250R 2 stroke water cooled = insanely fast... OMG this is gonna hurt!!! The above is not theoretical, it's been tested.
I raced em back in the day!! nothing broke thankfully... I would advise a Quad (four wheel ATV)... much more stable!! a fourstroke as well!! gas and go!! very little maintenance/upkeep. 3-wheelers discontinued due to lawsuits!!! that should tell ya something!!
Borrowed '83 250R (air cooled one no less) + tree = kneecap in first 60 seconds on it. Still, I thought the 85 model looked really cool as did the Yamaha Tri-Z. I figured 4 wheels were heavy and just a fad. For sake of safety you want a nice CR500, yes you do....
IIRC the racing 3-wheelers were faster than the quads of the same time period ('85-ish). But there was only a small time period where both were in manufacturers' lineups. Kawasaki might have made the Tecate and Tecate 4 for a couple of years, and Honda the ATC 250R and Fourtrax 250R maybe '86-87. Suzuki never made a serious trike, going straight to the Quadracer. I can't remember if Yamaha had a serious quad at the time, but the Tri-Z was long gone before Reagan left office. As for the CR500, always wanted one of those, preferably post-91, you can still basically build a bike from parts. A supermoto made from a ported CR500 would be just enough lunacy for someone with a good health insurance plan and high threshold for pain. This was a cool build using parts of many bikes. project BLACK DIAMOND cr 500af street build Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
