I've got a couple cars personally I jump between day to day now - a lusso V12, and a Bentayga W12. My wife has a Range Rover we've just purchased, which is a lovely family car.

I want to clear some space at the house and I'd prefer to just drive 1 car every day. I do probably 12,000 miles a year.

I'm thinking of selling both the lusso and bentley and getting a 296 to use every day, probably as a daily driver for the next 3 years or so (unless I change my mind haha!).

Does anyone else do this with a 296? That'd mean I'd put high milage on it, last time I dropped to 1 car was a classic Defender and I put 42k miles on it. If I need extra space I'll borrow my wife's range rover and she can use the ferrari.

The 296 has a cupholder, is small enough to park, I was thinking of probably a more subtle colour - maybe black, although I've never had a red ferrari so would maybe look at that but I think that's a loud colour for a daily driver. Black would not be my choice for a weekend car, but if I'm driving every day I think it should be subtle enough to park in some places where you don't immediately want to stand out.

I've driven the 296 before and its a great car - 90% of the time its only me in the car, so I don't see any disadvantage besides potentially people making comments if I go to a meeting and a customer says "ooo, you're driving a ferrari" and then you have that initial discomfort of people thinking you do well, but life is short and if I dont drive it when I work then I'll never drive it as weekends I spend with family and days I work, so if I want to enjoy a ferrari I have to drive it daily or I wont get chance to enjoy it.

    Thoughts?

I say go for it! Seems like you are already aware of the car's characteristics and have reasonable expectations of what driving a 296 on a daily basis would entail.

I think it would be a fantastic daily as long as weather isn't a huge obstacle for you driving the car year round and that you are O.K. with the depreciation that will come along with lots of miles.

I would definitely daily a 296 if I had a more tolerable work environment and could afford the depreciation!

    Best of luck!

I daily a 458 and have almost the entire time since they came out. Wife has a big SUV too. Granted the only real complaint is when she needs me to have four seats to pick up the kids...

In all seriousness, as long as you are aware of and accept the depreciation with that milage, there is no drawback.

I don't daily my 720 but I do drive it to work. When I go to certain meetings or to places where tenants and clients might see me, I drive a company vehicle. I guess it depends on your line of business. I'd think the biggest drawback is people seeing the car and thinking "this guy has too much money". If you can get over that, I'd say it should be very livable. I'm waiting for my 296, but in the meantime, I still bring the 720 and Aston to work regularly. Same deal, I'm with family on the weekends and usually have to take the daily driver (X5 M60) for practical purposes. My wife has a 2023 RR Sport, which is a great family car, and the kids prefer that anyway....

Any idea what the depreciation would be if you put 15K miles on it? What about 30K?

Those sort of miles would put you in the high mileage for a new Ferrari , expect more than 30k after a year

…everyone will have an opinion so I will throw mine out there…

    expect approximate depreciation of:
    $3.00 per mile
$5,000 additional at every 10,000 mile mark

    YMMV no pun intended

I only live once and don't care about depreciation, the 296 is such a great car, I do about 10.000 km per year.

I would rather trade depreciation with the smiles per the miles than let the car sit and miss the enjoyment. Enzo would agree.

I’ve driven mine 11 of the last 14 days. We have similar lineups (Bentayga W12 and F12). Yes, you can daily it, with these differences to the V12:
    • Entry and exit difficult, long door with wider sill and lower seat makes parking tight and limbo act to get in
    • A lot less trunk space and my front latch is so tightly set it feels like I’m bending the hood to shut it, which makes me not use it
    • despite using hybrid mode I’ve topped up 4x in less than 700 miles.
    • Rain corrugated cement (some of our freeways) make it vibrate and shake your teeth out
    • 360° camera is a godsend and makes parking a snap, no bumping parking blocks
    • I haven’t even needed the lifter yet, clears speed bumps fine
    • Upgraded hi fi is solid. Not better than F12 and nowhere near the Bentley but way better than 458 line. A little finicky on connecting the Bluetooth, but putting your phone in the charging tray helps.
I would not get black. You will go mad with dust and smudges and there are way too many curves grates and crevices around the back. Get silver or titanium to show less dirt and be lower key, wrap it in full PPF and enjoy your life.

Yes, it is wild and very Jekyll and Hyde… it goes from feeling like a low-slung 180hp Prius in EV mode to wanting to sprint like a scalded cat in Qualifying/Race. Like the Giulia Quadrifoglio, the turbo torque makes the car feel like it wants to run. To my own surprise, I’ve been using Hybrid mode a fair bit just to calm it down. 8th gear is a great overdrive gear that lets it cruise around 2k rpm at 80.

Looking forward to getting it up in the mountains, I’ve wanted to skip up to Zion or the canyons outside St. George but I’ve been too busy. But part of my assessment so far is this thought of, “Where do we go from here?!”

As to the door thing, I just drove it to court and it reminded me that part of the problem is where the door hinges are grooved, there are two stop points: 1. Too narrow to get out; and 2. hit the car next to you. And if you try and balance it in between while you exit it closes on your leg as you pull the carpet off the floor trying to push yourself out.

I have some Luna that would have been worth $50 billion at one point. IIRC I paid $1,100 for it. :D

    Oh other "daily driving" thoughts:

They fixed the cup holder! It has a nice rubber insert now and not $700-per-side spring-loaded clips that break every 2 years.

If you're not going to tint (what's with UK guys not tinting?), at the very least get UV film. The windshield is surprisingly large, and I'm glad I did the lightest Xpel UV film on it to cut down the sun soak. The rest of the car is 20%
