Not sure why it was deleted, I emailed the administrator in an attempt to get contact information.

    It was a 62 250GTE body only, no frame/doors/hood for $3,300.

One car that should be returned to the barn.

That is without a doubt the most pathetic vintage Ferrari I have ever seen...

The body, yes. But you'd still have all of us whingeing on about everything else on the car; and sourcing a motor & trans, as has been endlessly noted before, will cost exponentially more....are you that much of a glutton for punishment? ;)

Could this be a candidate for the 550 conversion I've been hoping someone (certainly not me) will undertake? I suspect that any buyer is really just getting a chassis that's been poorly altered and a throw-away body. That doesn't leave much.

................................... Yes i am a glutton for punishment Thanks ,,,,,,,,,,,,............................and thats one of my ideas , modern running gear, but throw away the body ? not for $29K , the body can be brought back with alot of metal work,, in the end it will have less filler then it has now , thats for sure.

Partly already mentioned (just collected together, not proved):

1962 250 GTE 4063 originally delivered to Peter Monteverdi (Swiss Ferrari importer)

Ed Niles bought the bare shell 1969 from Carter Phelps (without the whole drivetrain etc.) and sold the reamains later to a hot-rod builder.

Already before (in the late 60s) (all) the mechanical components were taken out of 4063 and (later) installed into 0117S, a 1951 195 Inter (Motto Fastback Coupe) with a 121 LM Scaglietti Spyder body (since 1956). The engine of 0117S was installed in 0131E (212 Inter Vignale Coupé) in the 90s. So, not sure if the engine from 4063 was already installed in the 60s...

My advice is to buy a Ferrari 400i with good mechanicals but a rotten body (plenty of those around for $10-20k), put the GTE body on it, and sell the bare chassis (w/ serial number) to one of the shops making 250 TR or 250 SWB rebodies. It would be much, much too much work to try to make a more modern Ferrari drivetrain work with the 250 GTE chassis and the end result will be a much better car.

..................................................................................................................................Thank you Floyd , the part i missed was the bare shell was sold later to a hot rod builder circa 1969 . So i guess the builder was a customizer sort of guy + modified the car to his tastes, + his tastes only. I bet the front fenders were incomplete thats why they were cut so far back with that radius .
