The two photos in post 10...wonderful: Bathurst, Mount Panorama, a 250LM round there glorious: as they say down under no worries pass me a Fosters!
Those Bathurst photos (actually slides) are mine, taken by my father, scanned by me. Both seem to have been copied without any credit from my Flickr account. I have more shots from the same race meeting: http://flickr.com/photos/chrisbevan/sets/72057594124185922/detail/ I haven't touched up these slides after scanning them, could probably do with some touchups and colour correction.
Hate to be the subject of Marcel's wrath, but what is the story on this phoenix-like 250 LM supposedly built from the ashes of 6045? Was the reconstruction done accurately? The 250 LM has always been my favorite Ferrari. Tex- No clue, just intrigued by a 250 LM at an order of magnitude less money than recent sales, even if not much remains of the original Harrah car. Taz Terry Phillips
Well, they DID save a few pieces..LOL! Original body comes with purchase, is there a picture of that? I am not familar with the fire in question....
Ahh, this is the "other half" of the pair, from last month's auction then? Thanks! There ya go Taz, you'll have to buy both, to sort it out.....
Jim- Thanks. What a pain for both owners. And I suppose both claim to have the most original pieces? Only with Ferraris. Still beautiful. Were both well done? I could see a fist fight developing if both showed up at a vintage race. Tex- I cannot even afford the one I have, so that is not going to happen. Would be fun to see side-by-side photographs. Maybe they could have a duel and the winner gets both, sort of like an advanced "Pinks". Taz Terry Phillips
There was a Jag like this and finally a deep pockets owner bought both, to put it all to bed! Me, heck I split one set of tags, across three cars! You gotta economize where you can!

Lets see...Gorgeous Ferraris, no AIDs, no speed limits , cheap gas, sexual liberation was kicking in...Im even more jealous
Ed- Thanks for the evocative photos. I remember seeing your name on countless Ferrari ads in R&T, back when they were doing real ads. The car is just gorgeous. My favorite color, too. You definitely had some of the best cars in the world passing through your hands. Did you handle Manney's GTO? In the late 60s I was driving C2 Corvettes because that was all I could afford. The dealership in Wichita Falls (Murphy Motors) through which I got my Corvettes had a red 410 SA (I think) come through during those times (late 60s), but there was no way I could afford the $5000 for the Ferrari or the $8000 for their Gullwing. I remember as late as 1976, Kirk F. White had a 250 LM for sale for $9800. I still have his newsletter lying around here somewhere. I have always thought the 250 LM was even more attractive than the GTO, so thanks for raising my lust level again. I hope someday someone will just give me a ride in one. Taz Terry Phillips
