Does anybody know the story behind this car? Any additional info would be appreciated. Thanks! Brennan Johnson San Luis Obispo, CA '84 40i #47583
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320033282273 Series 1, S/N 2975, PF #39966, red/black. Was in CA, TX, and VA in the 80s, Mexico in the 1990s, showed up on ebay last year (RNA @ $63k) in MA and is now in NY. T308
History from Bill Preston's GTE Registry. More documentation is available there. RNA = Reserve Not Attained. Bidding reached $63k on eBay but failed to meet the reserve. T308
Current bid $68K. I'm not that up on e-bay, but it doesn't have the "reserve not met" message. Does this mean no reserve/or it has met the reserve? Seems risky to by a 250GTE off e-bay (of course I'm too lazy to read the text of the ad).
Wrong, read it again. It does NOT say "reserve not met", so in this case the reserve has been met....
It looks like there's no reserve on this auction. Either somebody's going to steal a great-looking GTE cheap, or there'll be a bidding frenzy in about 6 hours!! (or the seller goofed and will withdraw and resubmit the auction soon. . .) lovely car
Anybody else wondering what the heck happened to the engine hatch of the 308 parked next to it? Anyway - looks like the 250 is moving up a bit...
David S., It was removed for better cooling Regards, Art S. PS. the last America that sold on ebay when for six figures, I hope the GTE does as well!
That actually seems like a bit of a deal. Odds are it turns up in FML and/or on some dealer's website shortly with an asking price of $120k.
Uro, you're back! Look, GTEs are now more expensive than the GTCs you were looking at! Regards, Art S.
