Yep hands up I had one of these Dino Replicas for about a year, during which time I admit I felt cheated after owning 3 real ferraris prior, i thought it would be a bit of fun and cheap weekend toy to tinker with ... in honesty i probally during that year drove the car 4 or 5 times and covered 50 miles max in it, dont get me wrong it was a nice car and looked great but i couldnt help feeling a fake driving a fake, happily im back in the real deal again and using a 360 coupe and a daily driver .....all smiles again :O)

Anyway heres some pics of my FAKE ...shoot me down as deserved !

Take my advice from experience .... use that money and definatly by the real thing 308/328 even a 348 (not sure what the prices are like in the states but over here 348s are cheaper than 308/328s)
Replicas are nice if they are done right but you NEVER get the real ferrari feeling and to me that is what makes them special.

Yours actually looks quite nice....thanks for posting!!

You're right of course a 348 is the 'real deal"....they are falling below early 308s here as well....

It may look like a Dino but in that video it sounds like it was running on 5 cylinders!

Pretty good fake... better than most I've seen.

And the horn sure doesn't sound like a Dino's. What did they get that from, a VW Bug?

It had a Lancia 2.0 engine ... as you can hear in the video it needed a good tune up at the time.

They mostly come out on the club runs/Sunday mornings etc. Head down to Classic Throttle Shop in North Sydney, there are a couple on the showroom floor for sale

    Check this out:

    http://www.a3drstudio.com/portfolio/main.php?g2_itemId=62

This is a kit car for a Porsche 914 chassis/engine designed by EagleGT using a Dino for inspiration. They call it a "Veloce GTS-8".

I don't think it's actually being made. And EagleGT uses no Dino, Prancing Pony or Ferrari labeling at all. It's just a computer rendering.

EagleGT did make a horrible Dino replica years ago that was supposed to be an actual replica; and it looked horribly fake. It appears the Veloce GTS-8 is more of an homage than a replica.

Thought it was interesting and worth adding to the thread.

Hello so if I build a homage on a Fiero rather than a replica on Fiero then that would be acceptable, not being sarcastic just curious. Of course I wouldnt use the real logos. Thankyou Norm

    Disclaimer:

In no way, shape, or form do I support or promote this product.

I just threw it out as interesting for discussion!!

I use homage to denote that it is not a replica. It is it's own model; not meant to be a replica or copy of a classic car. Is uses lines and styles from the Dino to create an 'essentially' new car (sort of). ;)

The "some money/no taste" contingent still hasn't found the Crappy Replicas thread, where Fieros go to die.

Ok guys. It is the decision of the group that this thread cease to be.

Wipe all memory of this from your brains and speak not of replicas nor reproductions as they offend the senses and disgust the soul.

Abandon hope, all ye who fancy replicas and find them less then repugnant. Get thee to a forum that bears the signs of false Cobras and faux GT's.

May Enzo have mercy on your souls!

    :p

Wow, that may very well be the weirdest forum post I have ever done.

I think it would be a toss-up in the embarrassment quotient between using a fakey-do Dino in the Joyride video versus watching yourself in the same twenty year old Joyride video dancing/acting like an idiot while lip-synching to your own pathetic pop song.

At least it would be in my locus coeruleus.
