Needed to change 2012 rears. Saw a 308 GTS with same wheels and 245/50ZR16 and I thought the car sat better than the 225/55ZR16s. Thinking to swapping the fronts from 205/55ZR16 to 225/50ZR16s

    Thoughts?

I had those 50's tires on the Mondial t when I bought it. Loooked good!!! ....but I have gone back to original spec tires. They handle the road better.

@ Incaico: Looks good and the front would probably benefit as well. There is another benefit of wider tires on the same rims: When parralel parking: your rubber eats the curb first.....

@ Wingnut: This could be the start of an interesting conversation: In what way did the original spec tires seem to handle better to you?
Curious because: (all in dry) wider tyres should give you more grip for accellerations (in all senses and directions) due to more rubber in contact with the road.
Then the /50s are just slightly lower than the original /55s (difference 0.4% only) that it should not be noticable nor in stiffness of ride nor in accelleration / speed values.
Mind you Incaico has a T, with power assisted steering. Hence his arms would not notice a difference either...

But as said, I am curious on what made you feel better with the original spec tyres.

    Hi Incaico

The steering with the 50's just did not seem as responsive or as nimble, but yes, traction was definitely there. More like I would want the 50's if I was club racer on a track during weekends (which I am not) for the added grip. For more "normal" driving, however, the 55's are perfect in the "feel" of the car, IMO.
This is my 2nd year running on Continental Extreme Contact 55's and would recommend these for the Mondial t for the usual (to occasionally spirited) driving.
