Thanks for the link. 458 continued on from its pole position pace (and 6 hr race pace) to get "schnellste runde" of the race. Closest I could find was about 2 seconds slower. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You can't take lap times from different days at the Ring. There are 24 Hour cars that have run 8:10's there (Porsche) A LOT depends on weather and "Balance of Power" on a given day. Before the 24 that car was rebalanced and it was slower. Balancing is a huge/political issue and the organisers try but it's very hard. This year the Porsche cup cars were faster on the striaghts that anyone and very close on OA lap times. Why pay up when you can buy a cup car at a Dealer for MUCH less and go faster?? A Ferrari powered car has never won the 24. If we get a more favorable balance we may be back to see what we can do about that...
Don't know the historical data on lap times, but the results list for last week's 24 hr race has each car's fastest lap and the next fastest car (from a quick read through) is about 2 seconds slower. 458's fastest race lap is about 8 seconds slower than qualifying.
I think this wasn't the race but Qualifying and once the yellow came out the lap was cooked. The video does show the problem in that as we were restricted the Porsche cup cars are just about as fast as we were. On the straights they were 20KPH faster. We're only going back if we get less restriction and a chance to run very competitively. The organisers were unhappy with how fast the Porsche Cup cars were and will likely dial them back. Why would anyone spend money for a restricted 458 GTC when a Porsche Cup car is faster and costs a lot less?
I think I see the Dörr Motorsports BMW Z4 GT3 after its huge flip over crash on the tow truck......... that was during the race. Correct me if Im wrong No I think this [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_q6LZijPlTo[/ame] is on an other part of the track Porsche Cup 911 very fast indeed.
I also don't think you can run in camera during the race unless you have the official Ring Emblem in the shot.
