A friend of mine was in that team and I've had dinner with the driver who was in it when this happened, a lovely Norwegian guy called Anders. Fortunately he's fine, but very lucky. The team was of course very disappointed, they'd been running between 8th and 13th for a long period and had a good chance of a top 10 and then boom. That's endurance racing.
the initial punt cost 2 hours, then the subsequent issues arising from that cost at least another hour. at 9 min per lap approx, this means that had it remained on track for that lost time, it would likely have finished more like 20th....cant look back or make excuses, but just to show you what kind of effort and the calibre of the car, the team, and the owner, you are dealing with since this is essentially a one off prototype, with 0 factory help, and a required air restriction robbing it of at least 100bhp. in other words, THIS WAS AN HEROIC AND MONUMENTAL ACHIEVEMENT !
Way to go! Running at the end.... I'm going to have to invest in some technology, couldn't find a system working well enough the get the live streams.. Thanks for this thread everybody.

Got busy - Sorry I missed it in more ways, shapes and forms than I can enumerate. I might be a tad prejudiced, but I'm proud of the way P4/5 C came to be, as well as performed despite gremlins.
I've put up a slideshow with some photos I took during the days I was there. Not just racing pix, but also some impressions off the track. I also included a short video which I shot at 5am at Schwalbenschwanz. Enjoy. http://24stunden2011.de.gg/
i'm glad it happened. from a photo standpoint the chopper was supremely convenient in locating a specific car and getting to different turns rapidly...enabled a whole different kind of shooting. also hate to braggg but i think i set the world's fastest lap record ;-) Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's coming; I'm working with the advertising company who took me over there (Kinetic Fin) to produce some content like that and get it on their website I'll make a post here when it's up!
Tough race...I know how 24 hour races can go after doing two Rolex 24's at Daytona...All the money and talent in the world only goes so far when bad luck is involved
