    Sup!

Selling my 2021 Durango Hellcat. I don't need to go into the automotive craziness this vehicle represents and how awesome it is to drive. It is one of two I purchased back in 2021, one that I daily drove for a while and sold (https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/2021-dodge-durango-hellcat.654045/) and one that I stashed away in hopes to unpack sometime in the dystopian electrified future. However with many things inbound I just don't have either the garage space or patience to just let it sit there ... as it turns out I don't have a collector gene in me, so here we are.

A couple of important things to note about this specific car and why it is priced where it is, especially as Dodge recently decided to re-release the model as a 23MY and it is already available for order at you friendly Dodge dealer, albeit I believe at about a 10% price increase from the 21MY.

    1. This car has never been registered. It was purchased, titled, and parked, only to be taken out about once a month or so to be driven for a couple of miles to get the engine warmed up, fluids moving, and tires rotating. It is new in every way possible as if it had been sitting at the dealership floor.

    2. More importantly, it is in a color called In-Violet. It is a very dark purple, similar to Viola if not a little darker that almost looks black at night, it does not resemble Hellraisin purple which is a lot lighter/louder. This is a color that for some reason Dodge did not put in the configurator so almost no one knew it existed or was available, in fact most dealers including mine were not aware of it. As result an incredibly small number of these cars were ordered in that color, and even fewer with the Redline stripes and red interior. This is a true unicorn spec, one of less than five known to exist, and that's why I had decided to stash it away. I have included a screenshot of the unofficial production stats that were tracked and kept by a member on the Durango forum. Again, these are not from Dodge and a few cars may be missing here or there, but they are an accurate approximation.

Other than that like I said the car is basically new, it obviously has a clean carfax, and has a clear title. It is located in Charleston SC. It has no ppf, no ceramic, no tint.

    Price is $119,000.

Lmk if you have any questions and thanks for your interest.

I'd love to have a car like that at sticker.

As I noted in my opening post, you can. Just walk into any Dodge dealer and tell them that you want to order a new one. Most if not all will be happy to sell it to you at sticker. It will be about $10k more than mine was if specced the same way, and for now I'm told there's only four colors available, butt the performance will be the same.

I’m curious about this chassis. It was designed as an everyday dodge grocery hauler, and then an insane power plant is shoe horned into it, which I love by the way. Unlike the new Ferrari SUV which was designed from the ground up to be a performance vehicle, what special engineering time did Dodge spend on this? Is the suspension, steering, brakes, etc all Bespoke to this particular Durango or is is kind of a death trap sporting a Hellcat power plant? I love this car, especially the color, I’m just wondering what your driving impressions are?

It's not just matter of slapping a monster engine on this car and calling it a day. I don't remember all the specifics off hand, but the package already existed and was well established in the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, and as I understand it was basically transported to the Durango Hellcat with a few minor tweaks to account for the Durango's slightly bigger size.

I was at private test day at Roebling Rd Raceway with my other black one that I daily drove, and I took it out on track after lunch for ships and giggles. The thing shocked me. They were timing me at the pits and I was doing 1:23s without going testicles out. For reference I do 1:07s with a 991.1 PDK GT3.The handling was shockingly good for and suv of this size and of this price range, the brakes gave up after a couple of laps but that's not an issue on the street. It's an insane thing if you can live with the dated interior and mostly care about performance. It smokes the Urus from a dig and you can show up at Trader Joe's and almost no one notices you, which for me is something I like in my DD. The best way I can describe the overall dynamics is that it mostly feels like a Murcah version of the X5M Comp.

And I say all the above as I currently drive an Escalade V. Technology and interior design isn't comparable, the Esky V is wonderful in that way, but from a driving dynamics POV the Durango is way better and is a lot faster ... handling wise if I tried some of the things I did with the Durango on track with the Escalade I'd be eating tire wall. :)

    2:20 :)

Excellent answer and analysis. I’m glad to hear you had it on track, as that means you can speak directly to the chassis stability and performance. Sounds like a very impressive sled, and at sticker price it’s a relative deal. Best of luck on the sale.

Thank you. I mean it honestly when I say I won't mind if it doesn't sell. I have to wait a couple of more months to be able to sell my Escalade V with the warranty transferring as per recent GM policy. If the Hellcat doesn't sell at what I want by the end of January, I'll withdraw it from sale and I'll just sell my Escalade V instead and dd the Durango. :)
