2018 Chicago Region Events

It was Jim Hendrick's car, owner of John James racing. He rebuilds old Porsches to RSR stabdards for himself and others for racing. This particular car won best in show at the Redmond challenge at Road America a few years age when Jim was racing it. NSXer has a couple of his cars.

It is truly a race car, but did have a title. I was looking for something very raw. Picked it up from Jim. Owned it for a couple of years. Had a lot of fun driving it in the mountains of NW Arkansas. I eventually sold it to Brad Goldstone of San Francisco Sports Cars who kept it for a bit and then sold it on. I think Brad added some carpets, etc. Here is pic from Jim just before I bought the car. Last year, it was raining most of the morning and there was still an excellent turnout. It's a very popular event.

Ah so it's not backdated? The interior was so neat i thought it was backdated.
What engine does it have? How many hp?

 

It started out as a 76 Carrera and updated to 76 RSR. Engine was a 3.2 with webbers. About 280hp. 915 gearbox. If you see it again, tell the owner I said hi. Would love to have it back some day - or just have Jim build me a new one.

 

Surprisingly, very few know that reference anymore. Except us dinosaurs

My daughter and I are working on an updated version of Hill Robb’s dinosaur shirts. “We remember Ferraris when Lussos had two seats, Californias had 12 cylinders, and 612s were CanAm cars...” She’s drawing a T-Rex rampante for the front.

 

On Saturday September 8th the Midwest Racing Preservation Association (MiRPA) is holding it's 10th annual Meadowdale, Motorsports and Memories Car Show on the grounds of the old Meadowdale Raceway in Carpentersville, IL. All sports cars, and race cars are welcome with some featured race cars from the '60's and 70's on display. The show is located at Raceway Woods, Route 31, Carpentersville, IL, a suburb Chicago. Last year Ferrari was the featured marque.The show runs from 10:00 am-3:00 pm with car show entry beginning at 9:00 am. Further info at www.mirpa.org

 

Became a fueled member and will be going to Barrington.

Im going to both as spectator with my 2 sons. They love these events.

 

Fuelfed always have a good turn out if the weather cooperates.

Barrington was good, will try to make the winnetka one sunday
