So, there are only 2 seats left to fill in F1, Toro Rosso and Force India. Baby Stroller is expected to fill the last spot at Force India. What if Papa tells him, "We need a good driver, and unfortunately, you aren't it!"
Interestingly, 4 teams will start 2019 with a new drivers line-up: Williams, Sauber, Toro Rosso and McLaren. Four teams will change one on their drivers: Ferrari, Red Bull, Renault and Force India. Which leaves just Haas and Mercedes with exactly the sale pairing as in 2018. "You don't change a winning team" goes the saying. Certainly true in the case of Mercedes.
[Autosport] Path clear for Toro Rosso to announce Albon as its second 2019 F1 driver, as he manages to extract himself from his Nissan FE deal.
Ross Brawn: Gap between top teams and midfield in 2018 'unacceptable' - Good luck fixing it with the Ferrari/Mercedes influence over the sport now Ross lol http://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/25398450/ross-brawn-gap-top-teams-midfield-2018-unacceptable
Yippee......another teenager........woopty dooo. I’m really starting to lose interest in this “sport”.
DEpends, if by then Ocon is a top driver in the mercedes team they might...they might also decided to pull the plug on f.1
Marko: Useless new front wing cost us €15-million Image Unavailable, Please Login Next year’s revised Formula 1 front wing regulations have cost Red Bull €15-million to develop according to the team’s consultant Helmut Marko who is very bullish about next year’s prospects with Honda powering Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly. Next year’s front wing changes are meant to reduce the turbulence behind the current generation F1 cars in an effort to improve close racing and overtaking, but not everyone is convinced it will work and it comes at a hefty price tag according to Marko. He explained to Auto Motor und Sport, “We plan to complete the car early like last year, but now came the useless regulation change to the front wing, which costs us around €15-million.” “But it is a waste as far as limiting downforce is concerned, we are already more or less at the current level and the overtaking problem remains, it had no effect. We should not talk about budget caps when we make such decisions.” While Red Bull technical boss Adrian Newey and his team work hard on next year’s RB15, Marko is adamant that Honda are also ticking all the boxes ahead of the new era for the team. “We are targeting the title,” decalred Marko. “The Honda engine already has more horsepower than the Renault, and what’s coming should be enough so that we can race on our own at the front.” Big talk from the Doc in the aftermath of yet another underwhelming season by Honda. Sure they improved but by how much is the question? Newey traditionally delivers handy race cars which have punched above their weight despite the power deficit, now Honda need to deliver on two fronts, namely power and reliability, if they seek to take on Mercedes and Ferrari, while beating Renault should be a given, on paper that is. Renault is now a thing of the past for the energy drinks team but despite the animosity and open bickering that prevailed in the last five years between management, the parting of ways appears to have been cordial. “We parted on good terms. On Saturday we had a farewell party in Abu Dhabi,” added Marko. https://www.grandprix247.com/2018/11/30/marko-useless-new-front-wing-cost-e15-million/
Expect more of this hyperbole from red bull and many teams in the off-season. Sponsors are hard to find, and bullish admissions of the strength of developments and fanciful figures are a feature of the dance. Red Bull know full well, as do anyone out there, that they face an uphill struggle. Behind the scenes, they may be nervous, or they may indeed have found the information among the failures that make next years power unit from Honda bulletproof and fast, either way, only at the second week of testing will their announcements be proved real or found wanting. In the meantime, they and others will be trying to sign as many sponsors as they can into watertight deals before the cars break cover and show their hand. I don’t think anyone is expecting a change to the status quo next year yet, the baseline of the Mercedes engine and chassis appears the most likely to evolve the best as they have the highest base to start with, we must all be hoping (unless wearing AMG team gear I suppose) that one or other of the teams finds some obscure solution to the new aero that promotes them to the front by a decent margin to cause the rest to panic, similar to the miracle performance of the double diffuser of the Brawn car that came from nowhere to dominate until caught in 2009. With luck, that team will be Ferrari though Helmut
I find this name quite funny, actually. Reminds me a bit of the Rauh Welt Begriff nomenclature... http://rauhwelt-usa.com/roughworld/gallery/ (Porsche on a Ferrari Forum: blasphemy!!!! )
