The 2017 Race of Champions will be in Miami at Marlins Park January 21-22! Defending ROC Champion Sebastian Vettel will be taking part. Tom Kristensen is also regular participant. Vettel heads Race of Champions line-up for first-ever Miami event BHW
For the first time since 1988, ROC finally makes it to Miami, USA. Past legends that participated: Michael Schumacher, Sébastien Loeb, Tommi Mäkinen, Colin McRae, David Coulthard, Jeff Gordon, just to name a few. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Remember seeing the original ROC when they raced at the Canary Islands while living in Italy. The events were televised live on RAI. It was really interesting to watch the big names from F-1, Sports Cars, Rallying, etc. running side by side down the side of this mountain in different types of vehicles. Back in 2000, I had an interesting phone call come in from Tom Kristensen's (then) PR Manager. He called me in Tampa to tell me they were at the Canary Islands for the ROC and very interested in an American driver they were evidently not familiar with. Will never forget it, he started out the conversation, "Who is this Robby Gordon guy?" with deep Danish accent sounding a bit incredulous. I replied, "Oh yeah, Robby Gordon, he races Indy Cars, NASCAR, Sports Cars, Off-Road, Baja, he can pretty much drive anything. Why do you ask?". He says, "Robby Gordon got completely pissed (drunk) in the bar the first night and then went out the next morning and set the fastest time of the day in the Buggies. Then, the second day, he was about to set the fastest time of the day in the Rally Cars when he crashed, rolled the car four times and the car burned to the ground. We LOVE the guy!!". Looking forward to the ROC event taking place right here in the Barrio in January. It should be a lot of fun. BHW
And "we" knock NASCAR??? Aye yi-yi. (yes, I know exackly what it is.... Hell, give me the IROC back; I might be interested. Penske Porsches, please )
Absolutely! (just compensate 'em enuff....) Yup, Some RSRs, you want Miami? Bring back Bicentennial Park circuit (Tamiami wuz good for formula cars, not so for sports cars; If it has to be stadium like for the masses, I guess Homestead roval could do...)and away we go.... I know, I know, stop reminiscing. Image Unavailable, Please Login
There is a Porsche RSR IROC car on display (along with an RS Spyder) at Penske's dealership Porsche of West Broward, an incredible facility. Sadly, due to the vast sums of money lost on events on the streets of Miami, (the $4M loan that the City of Miami lent to the organizers of the Miami Grand Prix of the Americas which was never repaid and the Formula E debacle) it's unlikely we'll be seeing any more events like that in the foreseeable future. As one of the few boutique racing events left these days, the ROC at Miami should present a spectacular show. And, since the venue is practically within walking distance from our warehouse, will definitely be there in January. There is discussion about an complementing pre or post-event happening. Stay tuned. BHW

Champion ain't too shabby. Ran the R8s fer a while...'cludin' Le Mans win, 2005. http://www.championracing.net/2010/history/audi_r8/
It's been open several months now, right along side Warren Zinn's Lamborghini dealership. There is a grand opening event coming up. We've committed a couple of the classic Porsches out of the collection to be on display. BHW
Montoya and Kanaan added to the ROC line up in Miami. International Racing - ROC: Montoya, Kanaan for Miami's Race of Champions BHW
Woo-hoo!!! Nuttin' like a coupla has beens to draw the crowds. Wait, wait! 'Better idea....add Mario and A J.....
Perhaps, but they're also both Miami residents. I'm no Montoya fan but I'd still put Kanaan in a car against just about anyone. Think he's also done ROC once or twixt. Word around the campfire is that they're in negotiations with another Miami resident, Helio Castroneves to take part as well. New Boca Raton Winter resident Tom Kristensen has also committed to the event. BHW
That weren't meant fer a reply. (You haven't figgered out my dry sense of humour? 'Must be the Brit in me ) Happy Hurricane, btw .....hope all's well down there. Up here too for that matter....
Smart-arse!!! Seriously tho', sadly, the '67 Monaco GP on Wide World of Sports is what won me over to F1. Definitely not LBs demise. When I first discovered this board, the first name that came to mind re: Ferrari was Lorenzo, so I decided (out of all due respect, thus no caps in the screenname) to use it. Nothing more, nothing less. (Aside, stormwise, we're looking (hopefully) like we might get lucky, ehh?)
Indy Car stars Helio Castroneves and James Hinchcliffe join the Miami RoC event line up. The full line-up includes: Kurt Busch (NASCAR) Kyle Busch (NASCAR) Ryan Hunter-Reay (Indy Car) Alexander Rossi (Indy Car) Travis Pastrana (WRX) Scott Speed (WRX) Gabby Chaves (Indy Car) James Hinchcliffe (Indy Car) Juan Pablo Montoya (Indy Car) Tony Kanaan (Indy Car) Filipe Massa (F-1) Helio Castroneves (Indy Car) Jenson Button (F-1) David Coulthard (F-1) Tom Kristensen (Sports Cars) Petter Solberg (WRX/WRC) Sebastian Vettel (F-1) Weve got our tickets Castroneves, Hinchcliffe join ROC line-up, ROC Factor launched BHW
