This 14th and 15th May is the RM auction in Monaco. Anybody joining as there are some interesting cars and nice place anyway.....? The Ferrari's are amongst others a 340, 212, 275 GTS, some other open Ferrari's (550 and 575) with very low km's and so on. Perhaps we can post results in this thread. Ciao Oscar
Yes,looking at the offerings,I think this one will be interesting, and perhaps create a baseline for 2016. ...May..Monaco..good time, good place. Lots of Fcars on offer, many over 1M of any currency that you have in your wallet, but you will need a bigger bag for Lot No.254..The 275 GTS (NART) est 19 - 23 M
Of course, Bonhams is also in Monaco, Friday the 13th, some info: Rare Racers and Modern Classics Head to Bonhams Monaco Sale: Anamera Ciao Oscar
Legend Motors and Coys are also running auctions at Monaco although they are targeting different markets to R. Legend does have some interesting Lancia's but most of the auction will be automobilia and other ephemera. Coys are mainly selling what they term as evocation cars etc. Bonhams do have some fascinating stock on offer and it will be interesting to see what they achieve with the C-Type but the real make or break will be the NART Spider and I would bet a pint of decent beer that RM have done their usual excellent job of marketing it and it will sell, the question is for how much........ Briefly on Bonhams they are also selling the Aston DB3S for big $$$ at the Works sale and have already sold a 10 million $ Bugatti. All up thats a lot of big ticket lots to move and will they also be able to get some decent consignments for next months Goodwood sale? Too many auctions always means spreading the quality a little thin.
No but will be next week in Brescia. So if you want pasta again, fryday and saturday we are in our house..... Ciao Oscar
Sorry Oscar, can not resist this, but would prefer pasta on Saturday, rather than fried on Friday! Many apologies,I am sure you speak better English than I do Italian.
Ok see you in Brescia either Wednesday or Thursday,,,pasta will have to be Friday as Saturday we are from Rome to Parma so not exactly around your place. Or Did you look at the map of the MM this year, to see what is the closest point?? Cheers P
It's actually quite sad to see how little some of the modern Ferraris being offered have been driven The 575 superamerica 221 km since new The 575 F1 590 km since new The 550 barcchetta 743 km since new. Now I get that we are all different, but I can't help feeling that these cars were meant to be driven. I've had my bog standard 550 manual for more than10 years and I've put 30,000 km on it
Well just remember what happened post 1990 crisis, when both Testa Rossa and F 40 with delivery miles came back to market. Some people bought those cars as "investment" and did not want to drive them, hoping value will increase. While possibly true for few cars, like manual whatever, at some point people realize they will continue to lose value and are selling them creating a glut of similar cars on market. Those need to be absorbed before the market bounces back, hence the perception that the classic car market, if fact reality, is going down. True for this segment, less true for the 315S / GTO/LM segment...
Bonhams sold the big Jaguar for 7 million Euro/ 8 million US which is a lot, especially compared to the Ecosse C-Type they sold 2 - 3 years ago........ 15 million Euro's isnt too shabby especially considering they only offered 40 lots. IMO it all swung on selling the Jaguar. After all it sold for more than the other 39 lots low estimate total....
GTO for $2m seems like we are back in 2014. Was that a high miles car? 959 was a bargain (in this market..) Lusso, Iso, BBI, TR,512 TR, no sale...Those are usually high demand. I heard 1.440.000 hammer for the 275 GTS.
Hi, Quoting Timmmmmmmmmy: Lot 111 2006 PORSCHE CARRERA GT ROADSTER Sold for 713,000 inc.premium, (NZD 1,190,139, US$ 809,112) Cheers, Pekka T. Fin.
isn't that a different auction? the rm lot is in the 200s for the cgt, not 111 2005 Porsche Carrera GT | Monaco 2016 | RM Sotheby's
Nice to see that the 550 Barchetta went for 500+ and the 575 America for 430+... Must be the model, first in line and the manual gearbox.... Ciao Oscar
Ferrari 212 Inter cabriolet by Vignale sold for 1.050.000. Estimate was 1.250.000-1.500.000,- Must say that most cars did not meet their reserves or low estimates. Some however much higher. Ciao Oscar
I know that auctioneers all have their own styles, but watching the feed seems quite obvious that Maarten Ten Holder of Sotheby's is not a car guy. Not sure he has mentioned the name of any of the cars he has offered at all.
