Holy Cow!! Anyone else paying attention to this beast??!!! The car will have 640hp and 630lb of torque, top speed 200mph and 0-60 in 3.7 seconds!

While getting service on our Escalade ESV I had a talk with one of the sales guys and this seems to be the real deal! Might have to dump the BMW for this baby!

Well the photo backdrop for that link is where you're going to have to drive something like this - lots of open road and no traffic. That would be massively fun!

But where I live now this sort of car is for what exactly?
I can't even open up my 400HP (that used to be a lot not to long ago) supercharged Jag for a proper drive. :(

These HP wars seem odd at a time when we're being brow beaten into going green.

That is one of the better Cadillac models I've seen lately.

How is Cadillac doing these days in terms of overall reliability and build quality?

I remember the Caddy's from the 1970's through the 1990's as beautiful cars when brand new that quickly became nightmares when some of their electronic gadgets started to fail.

I always thought it was a shame that a high-priced luxury car would have things fail like electric seats adjustments, electric window lifts, electric mirror adjustments, bumpers sag, etc. Seemed like the cars were good for about the first 25k miles or so and then they started falling apart.

For the 2015 & 2016 Cadillacs, can an owner expect 100k miles or more of complete reliability? Other than oil changes or regular factory-recommended services, this is where a lot of the new Japanese or Korean cars are now in terms of reliability (e.g. the higher priced cars from Lexus, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, etc.).

it is hard to justify the CTS V, it is definitely nice with no shortage of power, yet I can't sign off on it... I'm stuck with getting the Mercedes S sedan, it offers a lot more in total. There is more to a car than pant load of extra power.

all that may be true, but the S Class is in no way a competitor to a CTS V, just isn't even close
maybe when the V CT6 emerges, then I believe that would be a better comparison

From what I have read this beast is the real deal and I have always loved the V series....to bad they are out of reach financially for me at this time.

    Thanks for the link.

Boy you really shot for the stars on that comparison. ;)..my old ctsv was always compared to the E63, M5, Audi Rs4 etc. No way to compare it to the S class. My Sts-v was more in the sedan class , but never comparable to an S class . But that car with its supercharged engine was a barrel of fun.

My new Cadillac has been flawless so far. The misery you describe above certainly applied to my German offerings-an incredible array of failures with vehicles at much higher price points than the Cadillac. Here are a few I can recall-two new V8s in my BMWs(under warranty, endless cooling and suspension failures, two coil packs in my CL600(under 20K miles), electronic shock failures in my 600, an HVAC control head failure in my Benz-nearly a 10K fix!, radiator failures, window motor failures, sound system failures, engine electronics failures and most recently, a drive by wire throttle assembly failure in a year old E-class. I don't care about Korean or Japanese cars as they don't drive as well as either the Cadillac or German offerings.

Traded Bentley Speed for new CTS-V when it was introduced in 2009.
Put about 6k miles in the few short months I had it until my snobbish wife made me get rid of it and replace with another MB.
It was the only car I owned in the past 20 years I did not have to take back to service for some small or large fixes the entire time.

My 2014 Corvette is a better driving car than my 458. My 2015 Z/28 is even better.
My 2013 Shelby Mustang is a fast car but does not handle as well as the GM products or the European cars. I did drive the new Mustang and I was impressed with handling. It was only a base car but I was impressed.

I have not driven a recent Caddy CTSV. The car I drove two years ago was very impressive. I liked er the 600hp Bentley which is 6 times the cost of the Caddy.

You might look at the new ATS V. Almost as fast, possibly more fun with a manual trans, and $40K less money.

Bentley had already 40k miles and I was bored with it.
With the Caddy was hoping for having both the performance and low profile at work.

We have had our Escalade ESV for 1.5 years now and it has been highly reliable, one shock replaced under warranty in that time period.

Customer service over the top, at least at Moore Cadillac.

My daughter put a small tear in the one of the rear leather chairs, they re-covered the entire seat for nothing!!

Couldn't believe it and without any hesitation on their part.

    Hennessey 2016 Cadillac CTS-V HPE1000

    Beast!!!!

    From the article:
Sealy, Texas-When the next generation Cadillac CTS-V hits the streets later this year, it will have 640+ hp and a top speed of nearly 200 mph. To the team at Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE), this is a good starting point. The company plans to pick-up where they left off with the last gen CTS-V by producing the world's fastest 4-door sedan: The Hennessey HPE1000 Twin Turbo CTS-V.

Cadillac just wrecked the CTS V at the 'ring.

As super-spy photographer and Friend of Jalopnik Brian Williams notes, it looks like the car hit the side of the track and got its left side crumpled up, breaking everything from the headlamp to the taillight. The front left corner of the car is all smashed in, pointing to a potentially rough hit. It wasn’t rough enough, however, to prevent the car from making it around the track and back to pit lane. Or to have the airbags deploy, though they might’ve been disabled for track testing.

If you have any doubts that it’ll be, at the very least, INTERESTING to drive, dismiss them all now.

UPDATE: We just heard back from GM spokesman David Caldwell about what happened, and it sounds like a pretty routine testing accident. Everyone’s okay, even if the car is a bit dinged up:

Just spoke to the team, as yes we are testing in Germany now.The good news is the situation you asked about was thankfully minor - the driver is fine, no issues. In fact I’m told the car involved only had a brief respite, no immediate repairs even, and rejoined the testing. I think a few bruises to bodywork was the full extent. More or less normal. And not unusual in such a long and intricate circuit, in a very thorough series of tests, that you’d have some sort of imperfection. We have a very experienced team with proven and precise methods.
