Nice layout, I'm betting there is a minimum height restriction for entry.... Go Brundell!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
^^^ If JPM doesn't win, I would like the fat old Limeys to do it. I have met Blundell quite a few times when he was in CART. Good dude.
Awesome quote from MS. When the SpeedTV folks remarked to Mike about how well the #23 was doing, he replied about Blundell and Brundle that "they still have gas left in the tank!" Hoping for a top six and the car in the running for a podium!
Flying Lizard DP done blowed up edit: unless he oiled down the track, seems like a silly reason for a full-course caution.
say what you will about the contrived, NASCAR-ization of road racing that Grand Am is...this is a hell of a battle with less than an hour to go in a 24 hour race...
no doubt going along the thinking end justifies the means. there are simply higher field turnouts and closer racing. the means are spec cars and yellow flags.
maybe a little of both? after he retired from football, Payton ran TransAm and some other stuff for a while, then was a co-owner of Dale Coyne's Indycar team until his death.
In the mid 80's we had a motorhome trackside at Mid-Ohio. Payton was then running S2000 as a support race for Cart. The kids made a banner that said "Sweetness" and they cheered for him every time he went past. After the race he came over in his golf cart. Hung out, had a couple beers, signed everything for the kids. Very humble man.
Lol "str8edgeracer: Dear @SPEED my name is cj wilson, not cj lewis but hey thanks for the mention on air during the Rolex 24." --http://twitter.com/str8edgeracer/status/31819418082217984
A friend of mine co-drove, Cort Wagner. Not much luck this year but won the Rolex Series GT in 2002 with Bill Auberlen. Image Unavailable, Please Login
They did get some air time on the final lap and they were FAF...First Among Ferraris...that should count for something. Please thank him for giving Fcar fans something to watch.
True that. However, it's still sad that as one of the most important road races in the world, only a handful of people show up to watch it every year. I was last there 10 years ago before they NASCAR-ed the formula, the year the Earnhardts raced and--I believe--was the final year for the 333. This race is the victim of a couple things: 1) Uninspiring cookie cutter Prototype equipment that looks like the love child between NASCAR & IRL and 2) the effect over-saturation and under-saturation NASCAR & Indy racing respectively have had over the past couple decades. NASCAR fans don't care about watching any of their heroes in the 24 hour race when their very own Super Bowl is held in the same location 3 weeks later. And the best of America's open wheel racing world are a bag of nobodies thanks to a series rendered irrelevant. I know the DP cars are cheaper, but they possess ZERO relevance to the casual fan. Dallara, Coyote, Riley and Crawford hardly swizzle the racing drink the same way as Porsche, Ferrari, Peugeot, Audi etal.
I'm somewhere b/w a casual fan and a hardcore racing nut and I can't get into the DP cars. I watched Rolex this weekend primarily to see the GT action. Heck, I'd rather watch the Continental cars than DP. I much prefer ALMS and this was re-enforced when I just went to their site and was greeted with a 458; can't wait to see 'em in both series.
