Not a subscribing member, so I can't post pics. Here're my pics from Pole Day: http://picasaweb.google.com/ZUL8TR83/Indianapolis500PoleDay2010# They had the DeltaWing proto there. Silly, just plain silly.
AJ said AJ4 said it was a bad car. He said that if you don't like the car, then nothing good will happen and its best to make a change. Seemed really depressed when he was saying it. Made us wonder if something might have been said that shouldn't have. I doubt we'll ever see AJ4 back at the Speedway trying to race and if so, I doubt it will be with grandpa.
"Crank the front wing down two turns, I'm gonna push this sled up to 227...." Of course, I'd be leaving on a stretcher if it didn't stick.......
It was pretty cool on bump day when little Bruno Junqueria climbed into a car he'd never driven, he had not turned a lap all month, and put up the numbers he did. After climbing out of what clearly was a fast 9 set up had it been on day 1, he said "this car is capable of pole speeds".
Agreed...that was seriously cool. Luckily, Tags already has a ride in the show so we get to see Bruno this year. I think he'll be a contender for the Top 10.
"Indy is the greatest track ever." Really? I heard an announcer say this today on Versus covering carb day. I would think the Nurburgring or Spa or the old Monza track would be considered the greatest track ever. Is Indy really considered the greatest track ever?
It is all a matter of opinion, Indy has more history than any other track, after that it is opinion. I think if you ask a large cross-section of people what the greatest track ever is, you will end up with about 8 very viable circuits that are ahead of about 10 others, then a big dropoff, then about 20 more.
No - obviously the announcer is track - s/b circuit deficient - I would agree with your assessment.....having walked the old banking at Monza it is far superior to a Mickey & Mouse road course and oval at Indianapolis. No way can it even match the "Green Hell".... Carol
I'm a racing fan because of the Indy 500, but even from that biased point if view I'd say Monza/Spa/Nordschleife are far better. Indy is the best oval...
as a kid in Australia,in the late '60s early '70s the Indy 500 would be shown live on TV,all those great names,Unser's,Foyt,Andretti,Rutherford and then they stoped showing it. My favourite drive "On the gas" Mears. One of the worlds great sports days.
OK, all you physics whizzes. 'Splain to dumb 'ol me how this design will take Turn 1 at 225 mph and NOT end up out on 16th street! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes. No doubt. Of course, it is an oval, but when you look at the history, and all that have tried to win the greatest motor race of all, it is the #1 racing venue in the world. Nothing, not Monza, not Monaco, not Spa, maybe LeMans, comes close.
