Green/White 2...
I thought these guys were "professionals"? You're running 22nd and you can't avoid a crash with one lap to go?
I think relaxing the bump drafting rule and the 3 attempts at a green finish are creating an overload of red mist.
It is those guys who keep me from ever watching NASCAR. Just absolutely can't stand them - particularly DW.
I have to admit the last lap was fun. But, I have to also wonder why they had to run the other 499 to get to it. Good race though....
So why do they run any lap prior to the last in any race?? This was another great automobile race. As much as I hate to admit this, that is what makes NASCAR the best racing to watch for any race fan. I am impressed with Dale Jr's moves, and I am impressed with McMurray, just like Emmo at the Indy 500, real men can cry. Nice job JM!!
no kidding Ron....good to see the young guy get the win and what a fantastic emotional win for him too - pretty impressive record of wins for Chip with this one now.... Carol
Good to see Jamie win, he did a great job with help from Biff at the end. Harvick looked unstoppable.

I quit watching the series in the seventies, and I'll likely resume watching it about the same time I start watching pro wrestling (this despite knowing that the drivers are very skilled and talented).
Another Daytonner 520 Debacle in the books and while some are amused and call this great racing, it was one embarrassing gaffe after another which has sent the NASCAR spin machine into overdrive. Between the self-inflicted gaffe of the track that bills itself as the "World Center of Racing" which hasn't been repaved since 1979 (how is that possible?) and the "best drivers in the world" who can't help slamming into eachother within 20 laps of the finish all in the name of "close racing", even hardcore NASCAR fans are admitting it was a joke. 6h:13m to cover 520 miles, that's an average speed of 84.828. RM
^^^^the racing was great. I've seen F1 drivers run into each other for no obvious reason too as for the track, not being completely repaved for 30+ years is ridiculous, and totally inexcusable for a track of that size, speed, and fame. Not to mention it gets used A LOT, year round.
It was a great race, fun to watch. There is no racing series except maybe drag racing where drivers do not at some point run into each other for no reason, like Hamilton rear ending Raikkonen in the pits. I did not see the finish as a joke, and I have been following NASCAR since the 1970s. A cut tire, or a side draft can cause many problems on high speed ovals. I certainly don't think there is any one series where it can be claimed that they have the best race drivers in the world. They all have the great, the mediocre, and the why are they heres. During driver interviews at the 500, they all voiced that they hoped that the track would NOT be repaved, and if it were, that the new surface would have limited adhesion. Why? Most of them enjoy driving the track in its current bumpy condition, one compared the track to dirt track racing. Unfortunetely the recent Florida rains have pushed up the resurface schedule to this fall/winter.
