    Hi All,

I am new to both this forum and to Ferrari ownership, having owned my first Ferrari for just under a year now (2008 Ferrari 599 GBT Fiorano). I recently took it in for the first annual service and inspection at a Ferrari specialist in Dubai (I am based in the UAE) and was presented with a bill of c. $14k for the service, set of 4 new (Pirelli PZero) tires and repairs. Now, I will be the first to admit that I am a complete novice to all of this and I would be keen to hear from any of you what your view is on the below repairs being necessary (is it soon in the car's life? late? etc.) and any other comments you may have.

    Service details
    Mileage: 32,500km
    Service: c. $2k
    Set of tires: $2k+
New radiator (dry leak found): c. $3.5k
Replacement of power steering pump and hose (leaking): c. $350
    Servo assistant pump: c. $700
    Complete tie rod: c. $750
    LHS and RHS fuel pumps+labor: c. $1650

I was quite surprised by how many repairs were necessary, given the reasonable mileage on the car. The garage though explained that some items (such as fuel pumps) are not only a common problem but wear out/break quickly in this region due to the heat...

Any thoughts on whether this is a "normal bill" for an annual service would be much appreciated and/or how often other 599 owners have been in need of such repairs.

Thanks a lot in advance for any replies!

    Best, Jgtz
PS: apologies in advance if the post breaks any of the forum rules/etiquette; new to the forum.

Annual service should be only related to oil changes.
I picked up mine on the weekend, the service was 2200.
It is true, heat always adds extra stress on all components.
Tires are consumables. Tie rods. mine were replaced under warranty.
It is likely that a lot of the items you identified were an issue before you bought it.
I think my 599 is the best Ferrari I have owned so far.

I recently picked mine up from a biannual service (I skip the annual one) and technical control. Milage 44k km. The only issues were that new front brake pads and new tires were needed. Brake pads were done by the Ferrari dealer, tires by my local tire dealer.

I have not yet the invoice from Ferrari but anticipate something around 3-3,5k €, because the pads for the ceramic brakes are quite dear. The tires cost 1.1k €.

That makes around 2k € service costs per year since purchase two years ago, seems acceptable ;).

    Cheers, Bernhard

I report the same. Just had the two year service after two years of trouble free ownership and a total of 8K miles. All fluids (including radiator, thanks Taz) replaced for $1650.00. You do not mention a PPI but with no experience with desert heat driving, I would think that there might have been some issues that came with the car. I happen to visit the Ricambi site before I bought mine (just for kicks at the time) and the prices on replacement parts was an eye opener.

I'm surprised by the fuel pumps but the rest seems pretty typical. The common radiator failure worried me the brief time I had mine but didn't come up. Just be glad shocks weren't on the list. They will be eventually. Eurospares is your friend, as is your local indy.

I wouldn't call these "significant repairs", pretty typical for the 599. Fuel pumps are a POS design and will fail eventually, as will ball joints. The rest is up for grabs. Mine has been essentially trouble free at 30,000 miles. These are terrific cars. Malcolm

Just received the invoice, 2.9k €, including mayor service, pads, belts, emission control and technical control ("TÜV"). Including 19% VAT.

    Cheers, Bernhard

    I would say fairly normal.

I have owned three V12 Ferraris and the prior ownership pattern for each was the same for each.

Couple of years hassle free motoring then the car presents a big bill usually suspension related - bushes, ball joints, tie rods.

Also keeping a V12 cool requires a hell of a cooling system so they too often add to the bill.

Wannabe owners then typically bail and the next dealer or owner has to foot the bill.

Just got my 18,000 mile 2008 599 and the suspension stuff is all on Amber warning.

Factored it into my purchase decision and ongoing costs so no worries.

Plan for a $6-8k bill every other annual and you will be fine
