My friend was working on a 2004 Spyder Head Unit that had stopped working. He pulled the unit and found the back plastic cover had become brittle and had broken in several places. The problem seems to be at least partly caused by the rear heat sink connecting to the rest of the board by 4 small springs. Over the years the spring loaded tension cracked the plastic cover dislocating the chip on the heat sink causing the radio to malfunction. Originally my friend came to me wanting to 3D print the entire plastic cover. It can be done but would have been a lot of work rendering an accurate 3D model of the cover. I instead printed 2 "bridges'' out of a carbon fiber-polycarbonate filament and was happy with the results. Where the springs had been, my friend soldered 4 wires long enough to fold over after the wires had been soldered into place and then the entire heat sink, chip and bridges were screwed down and secured to the back of the head unit. The unit now works and is back in the Maserati.

I have a 2004 coupe CC , my radio unit did this too... except sadly one or two of the springd went flying to the hithertoo unknown of my dash ... i 3 d printed a new bezel and installed an Alpine head unit with blue tooth ... it looks like it was made for the car ... i can share some pictures if any one is interested.
