Anyone have a rough estimate on resale value for a 2001 Ferrari 360 Spider F1, black, approx 32K miles. Major 3 year service (belts, tensioners, fluids, etc) and new clutch done 11/2010. Car has a problem going in reverse, needs actuator repair or replacement. Needs new convertible top soon (top intact but must push down on it to fully seat it when taking the top down). Has nice stereo, amp, subwoofer, separates. "Sticky" on the inside has been fixed, now smooth. Price if I sell it as is? Price if I fix the actuator but not the top? Price if I fix both the actuator and the top?

    Depends on the options:

    All keys?
    Car Cover?
    Tool Kit?
    Seat type
    Exhaust?
    Challenge Grill adds?
    Leather Shelf?
    High Fi?

Assuming all these things are there, with your miles and service records and assuming the top is fixed and reverse is fixed, I would say $75 to $80 retail tops. Wholesale to a dealer subtract 10k.

I've spoken to a few dealers about trading in my 01' spyder (red/tan, 18k, TUBI, perfect in and out) on a 430 and have been offered no more than $70k. With your miles, even if the car was perfect a dealer may give you $65 or $75k at best if you sell on your own. Given that 430's will be under $100k very soon those numbers convinced my to keep it for now.

Holy moley 360 values are plummeting. At this rate I may pick up a spider in a year. Striclty 6-speed 3-pedal job though... I suppose I'll have to pay through my nose for that rarity.

Keep in mind though these are trade in values- the lowest value there is. For someone who doesn't want to deal w/selling and in essence is taking a lower value due to (1) ease of having the dealer take the car and sell it and (2) tax saving on purchase in most states- you only pay sales tax on the difference of the new car and the traded in car. At 7% tax rate of NJ you would have to get more than $74,900 for the car selling it yourself to get anything over the $70,000 offered on trade (and still deal with the hassel of selling).

Yes, trading in and wholesaling vs selling prices are different. No different with any car at any price point.
