I'm seeking a 2000-2001 Acura NSX with the following requirements: - Manual transmission. - Blue, white, or red exterior. - Stock. - Black interior preferred. - Sub-50k miles. - Cash in hand, up to $70k budget for a pristine example. Please contact at [email protected] if you have one available or are aware of a car that meets these requirements, thanks!
May be harder than you think. 2000-2001 were the lowest sale years for NSXs with 278 in 2000 and only 164 in 2001. The reason for the low numbers in 2001 in particular were the rumors of the upcoming 2002 model having more horsepower. It turned out that Honda stuck with the same drive train and just did the new headlights and body kit and no mechanical changes for the 2002 year. So the 00-01' years are the best end game if you like the popup look, they have all the mechanical upgrades of the final model years with the classic look. As a result they tend to be picked up my discerning enthusiasts who are looking for an upgrade and don't stay on the market long. A real beauty came up for sale recently (http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php/195544-So-who-picked-up-a-good-deal-on-a-2000-JHNA2161YT000163) and was sold twice for a final price of $75,900. The initial sale from a private owner took only a few hours and the dealer barely had time to photograph it and put it on their website before it was gone. That car was a real gem though with only 19k on the clock. You also need to factor out the ones that were modified such as JH4NA21611T000136 up for sale for $81k. Nice car with only 33k miles, but it has been pretty extensively modified with a Comptech super charger, nav pod, etc, etc which happened to a LOT of these cars.
All completely true comments. The '00-'01 cars had their own specific changes following the '97 drivetrain change as well, such as an improved ABS system and the addition of seat perforation, etc.
So, you want an NA2 6sp or Auto and just make sure you do your research on the car before buying. A good tip on these is get the car checked out at an alignment shop and corner weight checked on this before proceeding. if you're buying for driver you're in the good spot of years to get but if you're buying for investment. early low production 90 or 04 last batch of imported cars.
Thank you for the correction, you are 100% on point. I mispoke and was lumping NSXs in to the basic "style blocks" based on milestone changes: 1991-1994 1995-1996 1997-1999 2000-2001 2002+ Even in that list, most people will just lump 1997-2000 in one general group of "pre-facelift" NA2 cars, although in my biased opinion the 2000-2001 cars are distinct.
