Cleaning out a closet I found a stack of old magazines. Among others, a few issues of, no longer published, Superclassics Quarterly. In an ad for Symbolic Motors... 250SWB Comp. USD 600K, 250SWB California USD 750K, F40 USD 250K. Talacrest offered a Datona Coupe for GBP 85K, a Lusso for GBP 105K and a 1955 250 TdF (prototype) for GBP 325K. There was also a 400SA for GBP 150K. In an article you can read about auction records: a '58 Testa Rossa for GBP 880K and a 330GTO for GBP 330K.

I wonder.. If you bought one of the cars mentioned above 19 years ago at the mentioned prices, or put the money in an index fund and cashed out today to buy the car, would you be better or worse of?
