$2.2m each. Not sure what I think. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/high_performance/supercars_and_exotics/2009_bugatti_veyron_16_4_grandsport_car_news RMX Despite the current economic nose dive, the hugely expensive Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is selling faster than expected. To date, 230 of the expected 300 Veyrons have been sold, for 1.1 million euros (or $1.7 million). Another Bugatti model, a four-seater, wont go into production before 2010, so in the meantime, Bugatti will keep sales rolling by adding a Veyron roadster, dubbed the Veyron 16.4 GrandSport. To maintain the stiffness of the structure and provide rollover protection, the A-pillars become even thicker than the coupes and the air intakes on top of the car are now equipped with two rollover bars. The GrandSport comes with a clear polycarbonate targa-style roof. With its top in place, the GrandSport equals the top speed of the Veyron, a dazzling 253 mph. Remove the roof, and the two-seater is drag limited to a still impressive 229 mph. Unfortunately, there is no space in the car to stow the removable roof panel, but the roadster is equipped with an umbrella-like fabric top. With the softtop in place, the max recommended top speed plunges to a walk81 mph. Only 150 GrandSports will be built, and the price starts at 1.4 million euros ($2.2 million). The first one was auctioned off at Pebble Beach for $2.9 million, with the profits going to charity. The line starts behind current Bugatti owners as the first 50 GrandSports will be reserved for them. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I like the umbrella soft top for emergencies, greatly thought out, but it could have been better for a 2.2 million dollar car. Does anyone have the video of it @ Pebble Beach.
I think it looks a bit funny in the pictures but I also thought the veyron looked funny until I saw one up close. Seems a bit odd if I had the choice I wouldn't want this car as a roadster I like the clean looks of the original.
I posted this elsewhere on this forum in regards to this car, but I'll say it again: Bugatti has officially jumped the shark with this car. Although the umbrella is a nice touch.
I hope I never experience the unfortunate event of having to see one in person. It just gets more and more tacky as the fools keep lining up to buy them.
I think I may have to add this to my wish list. I am not a big fan of the regular BV. But this is really nice!!!!
I have to say I agree with this line. I agree and disagree, some are tacky but some updates are a little better, although they are small. Like, the new wheels have a little horseshoe design like the grill. I don't like the Pur Sang, but I will probably stare and awe at it if I see one in person. Although I criticize, I will never be able to own one, so I admire those who can. No flaming on me please, just my two Abe Lincolns Heres the grill implemented in the wheels: Image Unavailable, Please Login
same... 355 is the best targa design still... this looks like pure class though.. and pure monte carlo "car to beat" . but reminds me of what a super-car Audi would resemble....... and for that money, give me a 250 GTO ....
This is just Paris Hilton stupid in my book. First they command 1.2mil for the hardtop model and yet that still isn't the best car money can buy and now here they go again with a roadster and it looks awfull without the roof. Is it really worth the 2.2 million? seriously I wouldn't write a check out for this I mean you could get a whole garage of all the exotics you want for the price of this. Personally Id rather have an LP640 Roadster and take rest of the money and go buy something else like a Home, Northrop F5 or invest in a big company than make Bugatti wealther than they should be. What the hell happend to the days of the EB110?. That was a Bugatti this is just stupid but beautiful.
Perhaps, but what do you consider the best car money can buy? Remember, this car isn't aimed for the market that can barely afford a 1.2MM car, if you're worth several hundred million or billions of dollars, 2.2MM isn't much in retrospect.
Hmmmmm. I've got to get into the high line car biz. Lets see, ya take a $ 1.2mil car, chop the top off and than offer it for $ 2.2mil. Damn, now I know I really am in the wrong business. Ok, so tell me what ya think. I take a regular dinner we serve at the restaurant, take 1/2 the food off the plate, and double the price. I'll have to try it this weekend. I can just see the $$$$ rollin in.. Darrell.
