    Listing my amazingly original 1992 Alfa Romeo Spider on Bringatrailer

    Should go live tomorrow afternoon

    All original Foglia Green ….1 owner from new until earlier this year when I bought it.

    bought it to drive this summer and ready to move it on to the new owner.

    came with original tires which I kept but replaced with new tires, original radio didn’t work, so I replaced with Retrosound radio.

    custon car cover, comes with keys, original books and pouch, some service records, even the original temporary plate from the first owner in 1994. Car was kept by the original selling dealer until 1994.

    However, it’s not a Veloce; why does it have Veloce seats?

    I don’t know that….The only thing the original owner couldn't locate was the original sticker, but he did say the selling dealer Halpert Alfa Romeo in Cleveland was hiding the car in its storage area for 2 years before selling it. He was told the owner ordered it and was keeping it for his personal use, but the decided to sell it.

    I have no doubt this is the condition it was in when it was delivered from Alfa.

    I had one of these. The seats are in amazing condition. This might be the lowest mileage one in the world.

    I sold mine at 150K miles. Still ran great. Biggest thing was a valve job at about 100K. Very reliable.

    I bought the Veloce version of this car brand new back in 1992. IIRC, the seats on all of them looked almost the same. The only difference was that the Veloce had leather trim, while the regular Spider used a vinyl type material. Both versions used the same (incredibly fragile) suede type material for the center portions of the seats. The top does appear to be non-original. The regular Spider originally had a vinyl top, while the Veloce had one in black cloth.

    Yeah, I have a hard time believing this isn't the original top. Everything else appears to be original, and the boot clearly matches the top.

    I was told the owner of the dealership was keeping this for his personal use, and in fact sold it in 1994, about 2 years after it was delivered, and the original owner told me it was tucked into a back corner of the dealership, and wasn't even shown to him until he mentioned that he loved green cars.

    You are correct. When I first made my post I was thinking the regular Spider (non-Veloce) seats didn't have the suede trim inserts. I was wrong; at least for the US, all S4 Spiders, regardless of trim, had the trim inserts.

    However, on the Veloce, the trim inserts are suede. On the Spider, they are alcantara. And, as you stated, the seats are leather in the Veloce, vinyl in the Spider.

    They're not Veloce seats. If they were they'd be leather and cracked at least a little.
