Another possible nitpick on the toolkit: I was fairly certain that 1986 412s have sets of pliers with amber/caramel-colored handles... I thought the red handles came with later cars, but Ferrari being Ferrari, one can never really know. My 1986 412 has the amber/caramel colored handles. Can anyone else confirm my observations on another 86 412? Nonetheless, as mentioned prior, this is a lovely car - I hope it lands in a good home! Cheers! Ruben
I have a 1986 412. I have the red handled pliers which I think are the same as used in 328 tool kits which makes sense as the 328s were built at the same time as 412s. Hope this helps. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks carguy - I realized I had a brainfart when I originally posted my question... I wrote "pliers" (which are indeed red as you mention) but meant to write "screwdrivers". Sorry for the confusion. My original question should have read: Can anyone confirm the color of the screwdrivers? Cheers! Ruben
Ruben, You are right about the screwdrivers. The red ones shown are not correct. Mine are as you describe. Bob
For you 412 guys and gals, I sold my 412 5-speed, blu chiaro/beige for $97,500. in March 2015. Recently, as these are really very beautiful cars, very useful and original 60-degree Colombo V-12s, I've had seller's remorse. So I've just arranged to buy a 412 automatic from an owner in France for 62,000 Euros = approx $66,700. Three owners, the current one an officer of the Club Ferrari France so very well-cared for, full records, though of course not Pebble Beach cosmetics. Will be coming in the spring. When I expect to be going to Italy to do the Mille Miglia in a 1954 Triumph TR2! of all things.
Is it also blue? And do you think you'll be disappointed with the automatic after having the 5-speed?
Brian, yes, the first photo is the new 412, blu sera; the second is my old 412 in blu chiaro on an Adirondack mountain road rally from the Saratoga Automobile Museum to the Lake George Club. It was a gas, running that engine up and down through the gears. I'm sure it will be less involving in the new automatic car but I'm told by friends who have them that dropping down to 2d gear engages all the torque of the V-12 and the driving is good. We'll see.
