Is the large front chin spoiler original to the 308? I see some pictures with and some without.

That is the Euro spoiler. Very different front end on Euro vs US market versions. Bumper rules for the US market are why the bumpers stick out so far which altered the grill design, the driving lights on the Euro cars as part of the grill design, and the profile differences of the lower spoiler.

I was thinking it was a US spec because the read bumper looks large. Is that a Euro spec bumper or a modification required for import?

I think it is a bit of fish and a bit of fowl. According to the write-up on the car when it was being auctioned on Pcarmarket, the Euro front spoiler was delivered on the car when it was new. Apparently that was an option. The rest of the car is US spec including both bumpers, side lights, etc. I'm surprised if it was an option, that it wasn't selected more frequently. This is the first US delivered 308 I've seen with that spoiler. The original owner may have replaced the US spoiler with the Euro version but that wasn't what was indicated in the auction write-up.

I listed this car for a family member here on Fchat. I've known this car since the late 1980's. To the best of my knowledge, the car was delivered new to Continental in Hinsdale IL. It's a US spec car with the euro spoiler. It's possible this car had a US spoiler and then converted by the dealer. When he advertised this on Pcarmarket, he did not mean to misrepresent this in any way. Again, this is an authentic euro spoiler on a US spec car. There are numerous US spec 308's with the same front spoiler. Thanks

My sincerest apologies if you thought I was saying the car was misrepresented during its PCarmarket auction. I was trying to answer Gobble's question based on the information presented during the auction. I really am surprised more US buyers didn't choose the Euro front spoiler during production. It really does look so much better. Being just the slightest out of the mainstream creates questions and sometimes confusion. There was a 76 US spec (which essentially made it a 74) Alfa GTV for European delivery that had people in a twist. Built in 76, it was a fully compliant US market car so it looked exactly like a 74, the last year of sales in the US for the model. Here, the Euro front spoiler on a US market car.

The Euro Front spoiler is definitely a "make" deal for me. I had a Euro '83 QV with the lowered front spoiler. I wouldn't have it any other way. Definitely a PLUS!

I'm in the hunt for #4 since selling my 348 a few years ago. I go back and forth on another 308 vs a 360 like a wishy-washy girl who can't make up her mind on marrying her boyfriend! Both are beautiful cars with exquisite defining lines. 'Raw' and easy to work on Vs more modern (IMO) is such a tough call that is honestly driving me crazy!

Anybody else in this conundrum boat?

FWIW-- I own a 308 and 360 F1 and work on both. I'll keep it simple as not to sully this sale thread. Between the two, for reasons relating to maintenance and driving satisfaction, I will never sell the 308. The 360 is of course a special car and great for FCA events (i.e. when you're canyon carving and want to keep up with 458's etc.) But end of the day, the 308, such as this beautiful one listed (zero affiliation) would be my pick for the quintessential Fcar experience. Feel free to PM if you want a deeper comp as a DIY guy...

    To lister, GLWS!

Similar. I have a 1995 355 spider and a 1985 308 GTB I bought new. Hardly drive the GTB anymore but will never sell it or the 355 probably.

    Well placed into today's market...IMO

Looking at this example and condition, you may well be a little low.
Car looks very very nice and a 30K mile example, with owner history makes this a 9 or even a 10.

    Checks all the boxes.....

    That is what shows....

I will admit my focus is on the earlier cars, but the '85 is a "sweet spot" in the range also.
I don't know where this falls in the "recent sales" category but it really doesn't matter..it's always CONDITION CONDITION CONDITION.

As well as the extremely low miles.
