I've decided to sell my 928. It's number 1131 out of 1658 produced for 1981 928 U.S. market. It has the rare 5 speed transmission, and is a rare sunroof delete car (Most came with a sunroof- unfortunately they weren't too reliable and most get jammed, a lot also were prone to leaking and if you are taller, you gain almost 2" of headroom without the sunroof.)

The car just turned 77,000 miles, but as I still drive the car on weekends, that will probably go up. Believed to be original miles, I personally scoped all cylinders and found signs of higher milage.

I purchased the car in Colorado from allegedly the second owner, and he purchased it from a friend who had passed on about 5 years ago.

The car runs great, and I would have no problem driving this car anywhere. Everything was taken care of and is in good order.

    Included with the car:
I have a copy of the original build sheet.
All receipts, paperwork, list of what has been done along with mileage and date.
Original manual, service book, and respective cover.
Box of parts: Mahle oil filters, spare bulbs, lights, and extras of parts I have installed. (fuel line, vacuum line, exc.)
Original tool kit, space saver spare, (2) tire tool kit, Extremely rare orange spare bulb box
    Fuel pressure tester.
David Lee Roth's "Crazy From the Heat" on cassette. (Pulled it out of the tape deck)
    (2) Full sets of factory service manuals. Grey and red, Updated through 1995. ($1,000 on ebay)

Recent items replaced: (Have all receipts, list is in order of milage)
    Alternator (76,621 miles, 12/11/2016)
    Rear Cam Seals
    Battery
Radio (Period correct Blaupunkt Cassette- Aspen SQR24)
Accessory belts (A/C, Power steering, Alternator, Air Pump.)
    Engine Vacuum lines.
Transmission fluid changed and flushed- Mobil 1.
Injectors rebuilt and pressure tested (also cleaned fuel rails and lines)
New tires and refurbish of correct 16" wheels (BF Goodrich)
Full wrap in Avery Gloss Carmine Red done by Apex Customs in Phoenix, AZ
    Oil change
    New full Exhaust.
Timing belt, water pump, Tensioner rebuild. (Reputable shop in Phoenix, AZ)
Clutch Slave replaced, brakes and clutch bled
Old fuel lines replaced with new high pressure hose
    Fuel filter- (76,808, 2/23/2017)

    Things that it needs:
-Windshield- (Will happen here pretty soon, I just haven't had the time)
-1st and second gear aren't happy when it's colder. Pre-90 manual transmissions had this problem. Syncros are brass and never lasted. Perfectly drivable, just something it reminds you about every now and then.
-Interior is solid, but the dash suffered in the Colorado cold and pulled up a bit. See pictures. Same with pod. Drivers seat shows some age, but is not torn or cracked. Carpet is excellent as is a lot of the other leather.
-Cranks a few times with hot starts. Common problem, usually fuel bleed from the check valve in the back. Will get fixed if I have time.

Everything like power mirrors, power seats, headlights, wipers, turn signals, interior lights, parking brake, warning lights, gauges, clock, exc. all work. Has the S4 wing.

The car runs great, and I would have no problem driving this car anywhere. Everything was taken care of and is in good order. It's not a concours car- but it is an amazing weekend driver. Anyone who has driven these cars will testify that they are a lot of fun and are full of incredible technology for the time. Prices have been rising for a while, and aren't going to go down. If you are worried about the wrap I have pictures of the car before the wrap to show that the paint underneath is in good shape.

I have at least 6k in receipts, tons of pictures, and have been in, on, and throughout the entire car so I can answer any questions you have about this specific car or any early 928.

Album of a lot of pictures here. I have more as well. Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

Clean, clear Colorado in my name. Car is located in Phoenix, AZ.

I believe I am priced fair at $13,500.00 negotiable, and I am open to trades. Please feel free to contact me on here, or Email me at [email protected]

    Thanks!

This 928 has a certain timelessness to its styling. Great looking car! The "crazy from the heat" cassette is a definite selling point! ;) GLWS!

Thanks! I agree, it is one of my favorite body styles that pictures don't really do justice. I figured it was!

Yep, it originally would've had the small lip spoiler, and it can be easily switched out.

@Robert- Will call first think in the morning.

    Bump, Price drop to $12,500.

One with almost twice the miles and a less desirable color combo with an auto trans and a sunroof sold for 18k at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale this year.

Still negotiable at $11,000. However, I would like to make note of a few things that have gotten done on the car in the past few weeks as I continue the restoration.

Brand new engine wiring harness, built by 928 MS.
Brand new electric fan system replacing the old mechanical fan, helps if in a hot climate.
Upgrade on the famous 14 pin connector, replaced with a better, watertight set of plugs.

Any questions let me know. I'm into this car well over 11k, and this is a great example of an early 928. Carfax is clean as a whistle and shows a pretty steady history about where the warranty book leaves off. If you want it, just ask.

Included are some pictures of the original books and build sheet.
