Looks like a great project! Will be closely following along. Might even post a pic or two from time to time.
the 928 has roots that reach back to GM ( GMI graduate ), the Opel GT is a the other visible product of his work, he got his start with the Oldsmobile division before going to GM Europe then on to Porsche... lot of innovation for its' time... a great driving car whose feel can be felt in the current crop of 991's

wow, love it! So what do we do about the firewall heat shield? Chris' is sagging much less than mine. Curious what the approach is to solve that problem.
Chris, we are having great luck using a heat gun and reshaping the firewall insulation. We have no idea if it will keep its form once heat gets back in the engine bay of a running car, but the initial results are very promising. Here is a great shot posted in another thread of a completed motor in the factory in '77. Think about how groundbreaking it was when it was introduced! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Will, thanks, I will discuss with Jim. Awesome photo. Your engine is looking fresh out of the factory as well.
Looking at a like kind early 928 on the market that may be due and worthy of this type of restoration work. Can you give me a ballpark cost.
Because the price can vary greatly based on its current condition and how far you want to take it, I would recommend you call Jim Doerr at 928 Classics and discuss the car and work required in detail. He is the authority on early 928s.
After a thorough inspection, the engine is in excellent and very original condition consistent with the low miles. Engine is being prepped for top end and timing belt service. Image Unavailable, Please Login
