1976 Porsche 914 original -- value??

The 1975 and 1976 models are the least desireable of this model because of the large black rubber bumpers. The preferred cars amongst 914 enthusiasts are the 1973 and 1974 2.0 versions.......and of course, any 914-6 obviously. Yellow, orange, green and light blue being the most desireable colors for resale, in that order.

I have sold 6 of the different 914 variants in the last 2 years, and would say that this car is worth around $15K USD +/- 10% if your statement that it needs nothing is factually correct.

Two of my recent sales were in fact 914 2.0 litre examples of that vintage, and they went for $16 and $17K CAD respectively, back when our dollar was at par with yours (8 months ago). Both were local cars, well known, and with complete service records from new........and were also recent restorations.

 

I hope you don't mind me asking, but how much did you buy it for?

 

You'll have to find a buyer first. A lot of people like these cars but from what I've learned, they like fixing them up from scratch. Odd looking cars but in an interesting sort of way.

Honestly, no idea. I don't know the values of the 914s or any "older" Porsches for that matter.

Yea, I'm sure it was kinda funny reading about yourself. The 914 world is sorta small and some people get a little touchy about things.

just took a look on the 914 forum and saw a local car that I have been drooling over. My friend jack had a 914-6 and I must say its a fun little car. too bad He ended up selling the car to some guy from Norway or something.

Just hold out 'til gas is over $4/gallon again & you could probably double your money if you market it right. Or - just keep it & enjoy!

 

I have 2 74s. the stock green one is extremely good. I love the car! I have grown up with it (i bought it from my father a few years back). GREAT CAR. The paint is not perfect however is almost. Interior not perfect however is great. everything else is great however not concourse. My car is worth about 15k however i couldnt sell it for 10k... im holding onto it for a while though.

My other one is a completely modded one. Its awesome! I bought it as a short term investment and has strung itself out a little. It needed some slight body work (slight bubbling in paint) and engine needed some work. The engine is out of it and will not be put back in until perfect. The car has over 25k invested in it on the initial build. I am going to try to get 20-30k from it when its put back together and perfect. Its an AWESOME car. I may even keep it as a track car.
