My jaw dropped when I saw this, I never thought I'd see (and hear!) one in the USA.

I'm not entirely sure about that. Legal for what purposes? Here in California the feds were rounding up Skylines even though they were 25 years or older. This was about 3 years ago. Has something changed?

Well, it's not legal to import them now, but starting in 2014, we will be able to import certain R32s.

For "show or display" purposes, yes.

Otherwise, according to the NHTSA, "to be imported free of restriction, a motor vehicle less than 25 years old must be originally manufactured to comply with all applicable FMVSS and bear a label certifying such compliance that is permanently affixed by the vehicle's original manufacturer."

Except for the above issue AND it won't be in any smog check computers (for those of us in nanny states).

Probably semantics, but Ive always called pre-76 cars "vintage", rightly or wrongly, because that's the cutoff for CA. I dont think any of these conditions above apply to importing a pre-76 for CA, as it will be smog-exempt. I can't speak to rules for other states, perhaps there are places where smog rules are tougher.
