1971 DeTomaso Pantera for sale, $33,000 Located in Maryland near Baltimore 74,400 miles, owner car, mostly original and can be made a reliable driver, or a good candidate for restoration. #4 condition if you look at Hagerty's valuation site. Poor quality white paint over the original green. The green is Aqua Green Poly, #V306, a rarer color than most (see pic, the first car in the driveway). Chrome bumpers and trim original and in driver condition. Some rust at the bottom of the radiator cross member seam, some bondo in lower driver's side ahead of rear wheel. Floors and chassis rails, internal panels, front hood, decklid are solid. I took out the glued-in carpets (which are OK and have to re-install) to see that the floors are solid. Engine needs tune up, starts and runs smoke free, no noises, was rebuilt a few years ago--stock. Aftermarket headers with stock mufflers. Clutch master/ slave need replacement at a minimum for safe driving--replacement parts are included. Tach is inop as is gas gauge. Speedometer works. Rear A/C condenser and fan not installed in car, but compressor is mounted and lines are present. Driver's window glass is bad, I have replacement. I have the chrome gated shift plate. Interior is stock (except steering wheel and seat belts), complete, and decent for a driver. The fiberglass trunk liner is present and has the collapsable spare, but no tools. New BFG rear tires, battery, hoses, master cylinder, stainless steel brake lines. Registered and tagged, clear title in my name. A complete early Pantera you can build your way, show-winning stock or custom, for about as little starting money as you're going to find. For more details and pics contact me if interested. The real test is rust on the frame rails. If you could get it on a lift and take some photos of the condition underneath I think it would help. 75K miles in DC seems like it could be an issue that might scare some. If the frame rails are in good condition, then it's a great deal. Good luck with the sale!
Peter gets another one- For Sale at Gullwing- $39,000+3 1974 DeTomaso Pantera for sale #1748516 | Hemmings Motor News
Is it worth flipping for only 20% profit? I guess with high volume it makes sense, but if this was a deal you'd think they ask more...
Seller here...he paid 100% of my ask. I'm happy with the transaction, his people are very professional and swift. The car will be picked tomorrow. Could I have asked for and gotten more? Maybe, but on the other hand I can start looking for another Ferrari or collector car. Which is fun for me.
Funny the Pantera is no longer listed on the Hemmings site or Gullwing's site. I wonder if Peter sold it already?????
That seems like very fair money - and isn't it better to start with a fair priced canvas for whatever extent of resto you want to do? If I was buying this I would sort out the mechanicals and the instrumentation and any corrosion issues and then drive it .... Leave interior as is and paint can be done at any stage ....
Thank BigT, but my car sold to the first person who looked at it, full ask (though I priced it under the market, so scarcely noteworthy.) Still a major fan of the cars, had it 9 years, zero regrets.
