For Sale 1966 Ford GT40 - Street Legal

I have had two of these cars in the past. Last one was in this livery. One of the few cars I have sold that I miss terribly.

 

This is one of the few cars that really made me think twice about buying something other than my 458.
Just to have this in my garage and starting it up on the weekend mornings would be a thrill but to drive it would be over the top.
I loved the 1 I looked at enough to tell my wife that I would even consider loosing a few pounds to fit behind the wheel.

And either way... it is NOT a real GT40 as I understand it; since it is a Superformance "GT40". But I could be proved wrong......

It was offered to me several weeks ago for $170k OBO by Dynamic West Autos. They were open to offers below the $170k asking price.

 

150k are for used cars with some miles. This one is delivery miles it seems or very close to it so that should command a premium.

 

You are correct. Less than 100 original GT-40s were built which included 5 prototypes. Most of these sell for millions of dollars. One that finished 3rd at LeMans sold for $11m.

The Superperformance cars are are quality cars. Well engineered and depending what the owner wants...properly powered. Regarding their price..... few can afford an original GT-40 so this fits the bill in the same way Factory Five produces Cobras and Revology produces GT-350s. Revology charges almost $200K for a modernized 1965/1966 GT-350 clone. Superperformance charges $200K+ for the GT-40 platform without an engine.

As used cars go....Superperformance GT-40s range from $140-$200k depending on their condition and how they are finished. I think they are great cars but they are not original.

 

Except for the fact that it may not be titled yet. If so, that could be a bit of a challenge or a no go in some states. Often times a titled SPF car is worth more than a new build.

$160k will buy the car. No idea why this seller is on here asking for a price so much higher, my guess is he’s a broker trying to find a sucker.

My biggest issue with this car is it sat for so many years.

As for the car, Superformance will - appropriately enough - build 50 of these anniversary GT40s, priced at $179,995 for the standard car or $209,900 with the livery.

Nice quote for an article. They sell as a rolling chassis for nowhere near that and you can look on their build sheet to see that the livery is not a $30k addition lmao.

Low option rolling chassis is $125kish, livery is a $5k option I believe.

 

This livery asking price new from Superformance dealer was $150k, I know it sold for less.

I've only ever had the pleasure of experiencing the Superformance Cobra and it turned me on to them pretty seriously. I can't imagine the GT 40 model to be any less exciting. Beautiful. I'm sure someone will be very happy with this.
