Reluctantly selling my 1964 Chevy ½ ton restomod step side pick-up. Like many older vehicles, the past history is incomplete. I’ve owned it for 12 years, and the previous owner purchased the truck from the individual who restored it. Pictures and two build sheets are attached. What follows are some highlights—much of the truck is “new” as of the restoration date (which is unknown). Milage showing on the Dolphin gauge cluster is 6806—I would assume (but do not know) that is the milage following restoration.

    Highlights:

    Top to bottom restoration
    Rust free body
    Tilt steering column
Vintage Air brand retrofit air conditioning
    3 point driver/passenger seatbelts
New Dolphin brand vintage gauge cluster
New door cards/refinished bench seat with center armrest and reclining seatbacks
Custom center console with cup holders
Gas tank relocated from behind driver’s seat to between rear frame rails
    Front disc brakes
New steel bed and has spray in bedliner—actually usable as a truck
Starts well (fuel injection) and runs strong, but the TPI V8 is torquey but not ultimately that powerful (great at street speeds, but would be embarrassed at a drag strip)
Exhaust sound is awesome—the previous owner says he went through multiple muffler set-ups before selecting
Tow hitch hidden behind fold down rear license plate
Custom front plate bracket can be removed with no signs of mounting on front bumper

    Downsides:

Old tires by date—will need to be replaced
    Engine confusion—build sheet says a 350, engine block code suggests a 305
Upholstery confusion—build sheet says ivory leather—I think it is ivory vinyl, though well done
Doesn’t “sit” exactly level (visually detectable, but not from the driver’s seat)
Windshield wipers “work” but their effectiveness is a bit underwhelmin
Some scratches (without significant rust) around the tailgate hooks

Inspection welcome at buyer’s expense. Truck located in Portland, Oregon.

    Price $40,000

    Texas!
I’ve seen this truck. It is a great resto mod. I seriously doubt you could do this for under $40k. It is cherry.

It's a really impressive truck. And there is an old saying, "buy the seller more than the vehicle" and in this case you have a great seller.

Addenda (*and apologies for forgetting this in the primary listing above)

    Downsides:

The power steering pump/lines leak. I've never had to actually add fluid, but there is a stain on the concrete under the truck
The rear differential seeps slightly (I'm thinking maybe one drop every 6 months or so)--minimal but present

And one fun fact. This truck can be driven with no key. The doors lock, and the ignition switch can be put (with a key) into a "locked" position but there is another position where turning the tabbed ring around where the key is inserted can be done without the key. I'm thinking this was from the day when these where likely farm trucks, and it would have been good to not have to keep track of a key.
