Bruce McCaw owns 00006/52 rebuilt from fire damaged production GW that originated from 00006/52.. The original tags and part of the chassis for 00006/52 are on a production 1960 300SL roadster in Buenos Aries Argentina. It disappeared there as a spyder in 1953 and parts were later purchased in the 1990's at an auction as a burned production GW. It is thought that many of the original parts have now become parts of several cars and has created a "Ship of Thesius" paradox. Peter Thomas had the original engine for 00006/52 and sold it to Scott Grundfor who put it in his W194 Spyder replica finished by Bob Serna.

The factory 00006/52 was shown to the public at the Rétromobile 2009 with this description. Question is if it is the real car: the burned remains of 06 were auctioned by Brooks in August 1999 together with the rolling chassis of 07. Both were sold to an American buyer. 06 was restored in 2002 by MB: is this the McCaw car or are there 2 06's?

Like I said "Ship of Thesius" There could be three #6 or portions of #6 somewhere. The factory even from the beginning cannibalized every single car and transplanted parts from one to the other, cut roofs off, cut doors down, lengthened the wheel base in one case, changed cams and axle ratios all depending on the demands of each race and for testing. Very little paperwork of these changes were kept or even recorded.

There was some colorful litigation back and forth over the burned out remnants of "No. 6" back in the late 90's / early 2000's.

For guys who at one point took an oath to "do no harm," the gloves certainly came off where that car was concerned....

Any updates on this project? I've thought about this thread a few times over the past few months, but I never got around to asking until now. It was great seeing it come together.

Why? Doesn't say banned user under his name. Could be taking some time off of social media?

I dunno. Whatever happened must have occurred during one of my hiatus from Ferrari Chat. When I bowed out, he was active in P&R. When I came back, gone.

After the ban was lifted he may have just called it a day. Many have.

Persistently advertising his shop without sponsorship, repeatedly exceeding advert limits for subscribed members, and feigning ignorance about the rules despite very firm notices and instructions to desist. A 3-month ban was applied and it expired in January 2016.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

The day I was banned I bought a Rossa subscription in order to comply with the rules and I was banned for three months anyway. I was refused to refund. I wish I could work it out I really enjoyed this site. If Rob will reinstate my 364 days of unused Rossa subscription I will gladly return.

    Pass,

In the interests of transparency, I am sending this as a public message as well as a private one.

You have been told many times that you are not permitted a commercial profile without sponsorship. The commercial content of your profile has just been removed yet again. If you once more reinsert commercial links and/or adverts for your shop in your profile without first taking out sponsorship, you will incur a very lengthy ban - possibly permanent. There will be no negotiation, no tolerance for pleas of misinterpretation, and no leniency on this matter.

I trust that is unambiguous enough for you.

    -Andrew.

Andrew with all due respect; I don't remember anything other than I was asked not to post more than the allotted ads as a Silver. I did not happen to keep track of how many I had posted during the previous membership. If I remember correctly I then tried to remedy the situation by buying Rossa that same day. After I bought a Rossa my ban still stood. I would have at least liked a refund but I don't remember lying about anything. Your sponsorship costs are far too expensive for a small shop like myself. I am only a restorer not the owner of these cars with the exception of the W194. I don't really have a retail presence in the market. I am willing to concede and walk away because I don't know how else to deal with this. My apologies if I misunderstood. Mark
