Hello everyone. On November 25 through 28, the 1000 millas de Argentina Rally will take place in Bariloche, Patagonia. Lots of antique European and American cars participating in what seems to be the most spectacular scenic drive ever. There will be a few Ferraris driven by locals, and I am planning to take part in it, by shipping my 360 to Argentina and back from Miami.
The organizers of the Rally are including Fisrt Class Hotel accomodations, car transport while in Argentina (special traucks), and all the goodies. If anyone is interested in joining me, let me know.

I'll ship the car from port of Miami. 20 ft. container. However, if someone wants to tag along, we get a 40ft. container for both, and the cost drops. here are the numbers:
-Rally sign up, including Hotel Llao Llao (Bariloche, Argentina), car transport (from Buenos Aires to Bariloche and back) in special trucks, and R/T air fare Buenos Aires-Bariloche-Buenos Aires, $ 4500.
-Ocean shipping from Miami to Buenos Aires (RT, 20 ft. container) including paperwork and hanshakes, figure another 5k.
Now, the good part is, a good Cavallino could well find a new home there, with the former owner rushing back to buy a brand new twin (or better), and still have $$ left to do a home renovation and pay property taxes. Ding. Ding !!

Sorry to burst your bubble, I lived in BA for 3 years, Argentines or residents are only allowed to buy cars that are already in argentina or are brand new or are over 35 years old. Even if they want to buy your car and have the $$$ they wont be able to register it there unless they are friends with the President or a Senator.

But have fun anyways. When the time approaches remind me & I will send you to some places where you can have a really excellent time in BA ;)

I am from Argentina, Bill. Love to eat "asados" and I'm very familiar with their business practices as well. You are right, there are regulations about importing cars, and all that neanderthal bureaucracy. But in Argentina, where everyone watches Formula 1 whith their bodies wrapped into a Ferrari flag, those so called "rules" can have an asterisc with the Prancing Horse logo. Even the President will wet his underwear (not to mention the thousands of cute females AKA as "minas") when spotting such a magnificent and modern work of art and technology. The best place in BA to hang out is "Opera bay" by Puerto Madero, two blocks south of the Hilton.

Guys, the shipping charges include a special 3 month import permit into the country. This is done through a Customs House Clearing Broker I am fully aquainted with and has done thhis many times for fellow participants.

Disculpen que me meta, pero por lo que veo no se pueden importar carros a Argentina a menos que tenga alguien (lo que aqui llamamos en México) una "palanca" o mejor dicho alguien conocido que te ayude a importar el carro "legalmente" verdad??

    Jorgito:

We are obtaining what its called a temporary 3 month permit to enter the country. This is part of the shipping package.
Ever heard a rational reply from an Italian Carabinieri when asked as to "why are Ferraris allowed to park anywhere in Italy"? Now, scroll up, and read one my previous postings. This answers your question as well.

    Spanish translation:

    Jorgito:

The name sounds familiar. By the way, this particular event is full, and the race organizers are not accepting any more registrations. We should organize our own Mile Miglia.
