Ugh. Not nearly as nice as the HWE cars I've become accustomed to :(

Shame really. Mattel did a good job keeping the paint a good consistancy around all edges.
These pictures are typical Bburago - just hide all metal flaws with thick paint!!

I'd have to see them in person to say more but these do look decent, a lot better than past Bburago models, particularly in the fact that they have both roof-up and roof-down configurations. Now, if they could combine both configurations in one model it would be a stand-out. It shouldn't be that hard to do. The HW California featured both configurations in one model I believe.

yeah, the HWE California has a removable roof. Works pretty well.

I noticed the Bburago California T looks to have used decals/paint to recreate the screened/mesh areas, instead of photo-etched parts like HWE did. I think we're in for cheaper priced and looking 1:18's (BBR not withstanding)

I give Bburago's 1:18 line 5+ years to catch up where HW's left off... they lack in detail, accuracy and over all paint quality ... IMO Bburago = crap! :(

I bet that's not too far off - I remember when HW first started making Ferrari's - took them several years to get up to speed and start investing in new tech to make better models. I wonder how long it was from the time they started making 1:18's to the time they rolled out the Elite line... maybe 6 or 7 years?

Yeah, maybe... also when HW's began producing their Ferrari die-cast back in early 2000’s, they didn’t have the newer technology like we have today, with 3D printing capabilities which makes modeling manufacturing a quicker process to bring to market, with increased detail & accuracy, so yeah the first few years HW's cars sucked!!! , so the question I would like to know, what’s Bburago excuses for not producing a better model with today technology ? I’m sure they knew about HW’s licensing issue with Ferrari… they had time to impressed us!

LOL, that's a great point. I was trying to be optimistic... but I can't even sell myself of not being disappointed that we're potentially (as collectors) taking a LARGE step back in terms of quality/features on the models.
