I ordered one a couple days ago from Lego and received confirmation today that it had shipped! I can't wait to build it - 700-some pieces...

Takes a while to assemble and looks very different sitting alongside normal models. The 'sort of woking' engine amuses people as well.

Did you guys just snap it together, or would you suggest gluing for a more "permanent" assembly?

yeah... not so much... I'd leave the glue out of the equation... just "snapping" it together is fine and sturdy...

Glue can get very messy real quick and some glues can even disolve the lego pieces.

I have not had any issue that would make me glue it together despite my kids playing with it. The glues can mar the finish. When I put mine together, I messed up twice and had to redo part of it-glad it was not glued. I just saved the directions.

I spoke to one of the engineers at Legoland. They use 2 glues, one a 30 sec-setting plastic model cement, the other an alphacyanoacrylate superglue. These are for their outdoor displays.

I received this for Christmas and enjoyed putting it together. My son likes it even better as he plays with it often.
