were those done on a cnc machine? scanned from plastic ones?
You know..... You could put a slight curve in them to better fit the fender. Just saying... This is a great idea Jon. Hope it works out!
Down to the final block sanding on 08510 with Rosso Chiaro next week. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The banked shots look like the car is dreaming of being on a track. Looks right and a great picture angle for when finished. Sounds like a camera rig project for you Jon. When you have the time... HA!
The last of the sanding and a coat of sealer this week and Rosso Chiaro next week. I got the headers back from Swain Coatings with a product called White Lightening. Next stop is Electro tech powder coating for High Temp Black. I remember back in the 80's, Road & Track did a story over a few months/issues of the restoration of an Alfa Duetto. It was exciting...I can recall looking forward each month for the new issue just to read the update. Yes, happily waiting months for one article with maybe five photos per article. Other than Practical Classics magazine from the UK showing the rebuilds of Morris Minors and Ford Cortinas, there simply was no source for restoration articles. Now we get to see all the amazing stuff each day, the complete insider's look at the finest work on the nicest cars in the world. OMG Jon (and Sarge), plus Mototechnique's F40LM and Bradan's work, Gary Bobileff's two 350 GTV's, P. Newman's Boxers..all incredibly cool, and of a much higher standard than work done 30 years ago. It's a great time to be an enthusiast. My humble skills improve all the time by watching and reading here. Thanks Jon et al for letting us look over your shoulder. John in CT.
Possibly a not very clever question, but why paint the body over a light colored primer, and the doors, hoods, etc., over a black primer? Here, all there is available is dark primer, so we first had to paint the car with white paint to emulate a very lightly colored primer, and then apply Giallo Fly. The first try outs with the dark primer completely muddied the Giallo. Lovely work as usual Jon... Regards, Alberto
The darker primer you can see on the body currently being worked on. It is just used when it comes out of blasting to prevent any flash rust. On shawn's car which is Dino Blue Metallizzato Brad used a blue tinted primer.
All the red is done. Waiting for the black trim and home to be starting reassembly in a week or so. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

You are lucky to have a paint/body shop that is not only good, but keeps the projects moving along at an incredible pace. My experience in the midwest is that a number of shops that do great work, also do repair work on the side, and the repair work often takes precedence over the longer projects.
My little shop is in a great area in Escondido, California. It is the Hot Rod Mecca of California. Within a very small radius there are incredibly talented people with a bunch of them working under the radar. Luckily I'm a regular customer with a lot of them and rarely are there any delays getting work done. It allows me to organize things in a very efficient manner to keep everything moving along smoothly. I can get everything done in this small area. About the only thing I can't is cad plating which I go to LA for. Everyone I use here do their very best!
08510 came back from paint and I started the reassembly process. The paint job is beautiful with such a depth in the Rosso Chiaro paint. It should be on the rotisserie for about a week and then I'll move it over to the lift.
