Point of reference: at the time Ford and Ferrari were doing their tango (mid 1960s) Ferrari as a motorcar company was less than 20 years old. Ferrari (the old master) had cut his teeth with the Alpha team preWW-II, and then competed against them in the 1950s.
So the Ford GT isn't automotive art, have the same quality interior, the same pedigree, or the same price tag. A shame that only a blue oval car challenges Ferrari on some of these merits or beats it. What a piece of junk. The Ferrari that is. Sunny
I remember some other companies that were also less than 20 years old, and volume manufacturers, that were doing well at Le Mans and as privateer entries in the 50's too. I read this quote and I think it completely fits our statements... "What must be most depressing for "the rest" of the teams is how easy Ferrari makes it look. While in the press conference, the drivers and team principal claimed they had to work hard for the victory, they were clearly in full control of the race (and the week end... and the season so far) with a well balanced car and clockwork team work. Anyone who believes that Ferrari and Schumacher have been giving 100% in Malaysia and Bahrain must also believe wrestling is for real... " This is after Ferrari has had decades to fine tune the racing machine. I give them respect! But their road cars break more often than the F1 cars (or so it seems) Explain that one to me! Sunny
Well, I certainly hope it can beat the 360. After all, its got 150 more horse power and almost twice as much torque. If Ferrari built the 360 replacement with specs like those, Im sure it would be a close race. I dont think it really matters weather your doing 0-60 in 3.8 or 4.3... It wont feel a whole lot different. As long as your going 0-60 under 5 seconds, Im happy with the performance. Im not saying anything bad about the Ford GT, its just not my favorite car...
He went there! *points finger* Funny Its all conjecture until they hit the streets. Next year will be interesting! Sunny
Before we give these new competitors too much credit, let's remember that they are jumping in at the end of a 5 year product cycle. Of course Ferrari is benchmarking the competition, what good engineers wouldn't? Allow for them to update the 360, I'm sure they welcome the challenge.
