As I said earlier the car is still crap. Whether you end up on 11th like Alonso or 20th like Stroll, the result is the same: zero points
The "Newey effect" at Aston will not be felt before a couple of years, IMO. In between, Alonso and Lance will have to battle at the back of the field.
Agreed. I'm sure the car he'll produce will surely be better than the wheeliebin they've got currently but in his time Newey has produced plenty of cars that didn't quite cut the mustard. Not great, not bad...just...forgetful. For a while now we've seen Aston and in Racing Point guise have fairly decent cars, even good ones, but as development continued towards something Lance can drive, the team has gone backwards overall. Lance closer to his teammate, but the car just slow. I wonder how Newey will cope with that when instructed to produce/develop such a thing.
Newey has just officially started at Aston Martin last month, at the end of his "gardening leaves" during which he wasn't supposed to work for them. I am not even sure if he will have a big input on the 2026 Aston car. Its design was probably started already last year. I expect the 2027 car with bear the Newey hallmark in full. That could be probably too late for Alonso to wait.
Yes. Even his own dad will have to fire him soon. This has become a bad joke. And F-1 is suffering for it.
Did he race this time? This time he couldn't hide behind rookie mistakes from the rookies. Three of them performed rather well. The Stroller? Nobody talked about him for the whole race.
He could have stopped for sushi and come in 4-5 laps late. by then the flagman, was gone. Pathetic, no matter what car he was driving, er well, shuffling along.
Lawrence is a businessman first and foremost. Yet, it's baffling how he can't seem to accept Lance is just not cut out for F1. How much more will he be investing in?
I have that question for several team managers who hired all these rookies this year. As for Lance, his day will come once he has a decent car.
Yep, this is a father-son hobby to say the least and a rich one at that. Who really cares what everyone else thinks. Yes, F1 is about stats but with the Strolls, they nullify anything having to do with F1 stats. They are anomaly in F1. Now from a business standpoint, Lawrence and his Billionare colleagues have invested heavily into AMRF1 and saved Vijay Mallya's team from going bankrupt while also employing more people and building a new facility AND getting the guru of aerodynamacist to work for AMRF1.
I imagine Pappa Stroll secretly wishes Lance would decide to pursue other interests. Until then he will remain 'supportive' of his sons efforts.
