XX 2026 production and it's 2023 ... Feel free to start a SF90 replacement thread Let's not have 30 pages of non XX - por fa vor.
I’ve seen a couple people saying the F250 could also be the 499 GTB, GTS, Speciale as well which could also make sense Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
2.3 seconds slower than the 360 gt2, top gear describes it as a surprisingly soft car made by the marketing department. Not what I expected at all tbh
It's an amazing car. Just observe the tire performance towards the end. It's incomparable to any racing car, especially when they're on different tires. Using slick tires can shave off more than 1.7 seconds. This stands out as one of the significant contrasts between the VS and the standard version. In terms of lap times, there's a 1.5-second difference between the 488GTB and 488 Pista.
We will never see a Top Gear Ferrari test again, Alpine A110 comparisons are disrespectful https://www.topgear.com/node/317689
Are you still reading Top Gear? They seem to want to criticize Ferrari because they're resentful that their British brands are nowhere to be found.
It’s a road car and some English brand don’t understand how it’s important to have a relatively comfortable car to use in open road. If you drive faster put slick tires and drive in on circuit.
Can you please refrain from this nonsense please? I mean have you read any of Ferrari 296GTB related materials?
Not sure what they were expecting really. It’s clearly not an XX car like the others but the clue is in the name….XX Stradale. Tyres alone will account for a huge amount of lap time. Remember that SF90 has been faster than Senna so for XX with similar tyres to be 1.7 seconds quicker than an AF coupe is impressive, especially given that red car had non AF suspension according to the CAR report. Apparently you can order it with either. Not sure why they didn’t want the journalists to drive on the road. A mix of the two is what justifies this car and is something other XX machines can’t do. Given the specs, I don’t think I expected race car levels of performance because tyres will always be the limiting factor. The real question is whether it is fun to drive and both reviewers weren’t really to be drawn on that which is a shame. It clearly feels very quick though. Enough to make you feel like you’re going significantly quicker at every turn, which is where the improvements must be. I like James Dennison from CAR. His main point being that the window in which you feel the differences over the standard car is very narrow. 1.7 seconds over such a short lap is quite a lot though. He seemed to be having a lot of fun but did conclude that he didn’t feel it was the best Ferrari. Is that a question of high expectations given the name? And by the way, suggesting it is a marketing idea as though that is bad - they are all marketing ideas! If there was no marketing and profit advantage in FXXK they would never have done it. Nor the 296, nor the F8, nor the 458. XX looks amazingly good too.

Set by the 1030-cv SF90 XX Stradale, the new limited-series special based on the SF90 Stradale, the time of just 1’17.309” represents a new record for homologated road cars. Driven by Raffaele de Simone, Ferrari Head of Development Test Driving, and equipped with lightweight carbon-fibre wheels and Michelin Cup2R tyres, the time was 1.4” faster than that set by the original car equipped with the Assetto Fiorano package and the same tyres. The test was carried out on the 16th of October 2023, during the SF90 XX Stradale media launch test drives in front of leading members of the international press, who were thus able to talk to the engineers who developed the model and see up close the factory’s performance test prepping procedures. The time and the telemetry was independently measured and certified by a specialist third-party motor sports agency. The SF90 XX Stradale will be on display at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello from 15 December, together with an exhibition corner containing information and insights into the car and the record. The last few press roll outs seem to be track first, then road tests later. Maybe it's so they can get 2 sets of videos/ reviews per car? The standard SF90 AF can be had with Cup2R tires, I'm not sure if the XX gets a different compound or perhaps slightly different size, but to be 1.4 (or is it even faster?) seconds a lap- around a shortish and technical track- is astounding- especially for a car that is not really light. For me the big question has been left somewhat unanswered: what's it like to drive. Sure it's fast. The reactions from the drivers hint to a bit more involvement, of which is what I thought the standard car needed a little bit more. I guess we've become jaded, but I think the word "epic" might just suit this one. Can't wait to drive it!
Hmmm. Perplexing. In April I was told by the driver that this went round in 1.16.9 and that’s why I posted it was not quicker than the 488 Challenge Evo, now it’s 1.17.30... fishy but maybe to protect F250 time..
I never cared about Top Gear, but this man's sarcastic insult to Ferrari made me sad. Image Unavailable, Please Login
1.5 (or so) on Fiorano , looks like 15 s on Nurburgring.Or more. Not bad, not bad at all. I agree, they could make it faster, but stiffer, but then it will be basically undrivable on road. Prefer my back than few sets of slicks couple of times per year
the 458 spec was 1.5 seconds faster around the track for a £30k premium as oppose to £300k! I personally don't see the lap time as stunning achivement for such a track focused car and still marvel that two decades of technology, a £660k price tag, 500hp+ advantage and what basically are qualifying tires can't come within 2 seconds of the 1000kgish 360GT2!
Motor trend a whole lot more positive and also detailed. https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2024-ferrari-sf90-xx-stradale-first-drive-review/ Also Auto Express https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/ferrari/sf90-stradale/361501/new-ferrari-sf90-xx-stradale-review-legendary-f40s-spiritual-successor
I drove a 458 and Speciale around Fiorano many times. Very hard to get that 1.5s. I have a feeling it will be easier to find the 1.7s with the XX because of the aero increase - if you’ve got the courage to throw a $1m car that much harder at the turns. Even more amazing is the fact that a heavy, 1,000hp car can be made to feel as alive and playful as the Speciale. As for the price, given what they have done it’s easy to see the increase in cost but it does ask a question about the whole genre, including cars like Senna and Revuelto. The tech in the SF90 is far ahead of the Speciale when you compare car with car. You can see where the money has been spent. Add the aero, bodywork and chassis changes for the XX and you can again see why the cost is what it is. But, have we reached a point where even this already crazy genre stretches things too far? Is there even such a thing as ‘too far’ when the appeal of these things has never been ‘should a thing be done’ but ‘if it can be done let’s do it!’
So SF90 XX is only 1.7 seconds faster on Cup 2 Rs than the standard SF90 Stradale is on regular Cup 2s? Considering the fact that Cup 2 Rs are 1-2 seconds faster than Cup 2s on Michelin’s test track, that doesn’t seem very impressive. It seems like the XX is only quicker due to the better tires. https://www.carthrottle.com/news/michelin-cup-2-r-vs-cup-2-how-much-faster-and-slower-cup-2-r
I thought the SF90 Stradale AF was set on (the optional) Cup2R tires Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I was under the impression they came with P-Zeros or optional Cup 2s (same as what came on my non-AF car, as per my request). Check out the 3rd picture in this link of a AF car. You can zoom in and see what it is. https://www.chicagomotorcars.com/2021-ferrari-sf90-stradale-assetto-fiorano-package!-tons-of-carbon-fiber-upgrades!!-loaded!!!-c-10416.htm If someone’s car came with Cup 2 Rs, please show us a picture. Maybe I’m wrong.
