I have a local header fabricator that I am thinking of having produce a run of 4-2-1 headers for the F430. As most know, the initial tooling set up cost is expensive and will necessitate a minimum order of 25. I am trying to gauge interest so I can ascertain if this run is worth the effort. This is just an interest list, and if we can get the minimum order size we can go from there. This will be stainless steel of course. I don't have pricing yet, but will likely be significantly less than what's in the market currently.
We can discuss heat coatings and blankets at a later time.

Being frank, I think this ship has sailed.

Top Speed offer a very good budget option for $999
Supersprint offer the best performance (proven) and design for $+++

    There are many options in-between.

I'm unsure where a new offering would fit in to the market?

This interest list if specifically for those owners who prefer the 4-2-1 header design. The two options you mentioned are 4-1 design. The only options for the 4-2-1 headers are:

    1. OEM Mk2
    2. OEM Challenge/Scud
    3. Capristo
    4. Tubistyle

The capristo design is a work of art in the way the bends are done. Some systems are dreadful with the bend being 2 cropped pipes welded together like a right angle.

I can't seem ti find it using the search, but I could recall (maybe it wasn't on Ferrarichat) someone comparing the Challenge Header welds and thickness to the regular headers and the Challenge headers were beefier. I would rather get the challenge headers and grind off the part that says "For racing use only") and leave the Ferrari stamp since the headers look stock from the outside except for the engraving.

Looking at the Quicksilver website, they dont have any pictures of their finished product. This is certainly possible as well, but I would need a set of cores so my fabricator can mock up the prototype in a jig.

You can always get a cheap set of cores off eBay. I guess it wouldn’t matter if they were cracked already if it’s just for a jig:

Larini is also 4-2-1... British made, high quality, inconel shields... They were 4,400 shipped back in mid 2022

Larini offers 2 different versions for the 430. The Challenge which appears to be 4-1. The other is for the Scud, which is 4-2-1 but comes with with the air rails. For non-Scud owners, you would have to remove the air rails and tig the holes.

My understanding is they are all made to order, I would assume they would make them anyway you want.
There's a member here with them, was it Dallas car nut?

That would be great if they can spec them for F430 owners with no air rails.

On that quicksilver site they talk about primary pipes melting and show pictures of 355 manifolds which suffer this. Nothing to do with 430 manifolds. Beware, and the price per manifold!

Doing a little more reading, looks like for both 355 and 430 they just built custom headers that fit inside the old heat shields so no one notices. Pretty stealth.

Why would you want 4-2-1 headers instead of 4-1? The big advantage of a flat crank V-8 is extraction is superior to a 90 degree crank V-8. Ours are two four cylinders on the same crank and theirs is 4 V twins on same crank. Best extraction is a 4-1 set-up, where each cylinder helps evacuate the gasses for the next one in order. A 4-2-1 system is not as efficient at doing that since it is mixing pulses in the common pipes.

I wanted to stay close to the set up that Ferrari originally intended and designed the system. I prefer the sound and pitch of the oem headers and would keep it if weren’t for the ticking time bomb that the pre-cats pose. My car had unequal length pipe 4-1 headers and the idle was horrendous. Very lumpy idle and that could very well be because of the unequal length pipes. I have also read that 4-2-1 provides better low-mid range torque, which I prefer.

Yup, unequal length pipes would negate much of the value of any header system.
