    Hello.!

I’m located in SoCal, and even though exotics are a common, people still look and appreciate the beauty of these cars.

I love to drive my car. But I’ve noticed that during the day and In high traffic places I experience a great deal of anxiety when people look ( specially at stop lights)
I get a feeling of not knowing how to act.
I get caught on thoughts of not wanting to come come off as a show off.
Or just feeling uncomfortable when I’m being stared at for minutes.

I’m curious if anybody else has experience this? and how have you guys dealt with this?

This among other issues with unwanted attention. Sold the Fcars and bought a 911 carrera cab.

Became invisible to all except that know what a new one costs, and only positive reactions from that crowd.

That’s my $.02, your results may vary.

It's just part of the ownership experience-

I've figured out for the most part they are:
    1) Figuring out/arguing about the make
    2) Figuring out/arguing about the model
    3) Figuring out/arguing if you are famous

A quick wave / thumbs up / mouthed "thank you" usually is received well- They will also snap pics and video you meaning sometimes driving uncomfortably close.

It is part or Ferrari/Lambo/McLaren ownership.

Solution if its annoying is buy a Porsche or Aston - Awesome cars- Much less attention.

    Cheers

I have a blue (Azzurro California) 360 Spider so am basically invisible to the general public. When someone does notice, I usually wave or thumbs up.

If you don't want to be noticed, don't buy a red car.

2 yrs on i still suffer from this

I’d prefer my car to look like a paper bag
I drove it for the emotions it stirs inside me, not to be looked at

My wife on the other hand loves the attention

I find it totally fascinating when guys say they actually sold their cars because of too much attention. Granted I have days when I don’t want to talk at every light and gas station, or taunted by every Civic/pony/muscle car, but overall I get a kick out of having a car that people enjoy seeing and learning about. Driving with convertible top down is like being on a parade float in Vegas. (And up at my in-laws’ place in rural Utah I did use one as a parade float!)

I have dark tint though on my current Ferrari so I know they really can’t see much when my windows are up. That might help you.

For me its a love/hate thing. At times no one seems to notice. Yesterday I had two instances of people hanging out their window going "nuts". Thinking about it though, when I see a Ferrari on the road, my heart starts to race, so I can understand.:)

And I'll admit, when I drive one of my sons' cars (Jetta and Mazda3), I keep thinking how dull life is to *only* get something like this. Even though they are well-optioned cars that drive nicely - for a kid they are amazing, but once you're middle aged it's just not enough.

It goes away after a while. At least it did for me. If you're gonna drive exotics, you have to tune it out. But not so much that you forget whatever you do could end up on snap or youtube.

When I first got my 458 I had a bit of this concern as well. It’s was just fear of the unknown for me - what should I do if/when people do X. Naivety if you will.

You are in control of how you react and you decide if you are attached to how others react.

Ask yourself this - when you are in your regular daily driver how much time to you spend looking to see if other drivers are looking at you?

For me, it’s none. But when I got my 458, it was all the time.

So when I became aware that I was looking for the attention, I just started behaving like I was in my Honda. Problem solved. Detach and you could feel the anxiety melt away.

Thank you for the comments guys! Agreed, these vehicles come with the attention and I will make peace with this aspect of the ownership experience. maybe i just need to be more open to meeting and chatting up strangers.

I must add that in my situation, location has a lot to do with it. It didn’t used to be this way 10 years ago, but there are multiple shootings in the town that I live on a daily basis, much road rage, aggressive driving, a great deal of drivers without current plates and you know they don’t have insurance.

Recently, someone came up and knocked on my window at a traffic light. A few weeks prior to that, a driver followed me into an empty parking lot on an early Sunday morning when I stopped to check on something. They wanted me to roll down my window. Instead, I rolled on out of there.

So for me, the attention is a love-hate thing, but so worth it, as each time I drive the car it’s a mini vacation, a weekly event I so look forward to. :(:)

Since the C8’s came out my 488 seems to get less and less attention. It’s kind of nice IMO.

I had a succession of half a dozen f-cars, was in line for a C8, took delivery expecting to flip it and lo and behold it's my favorite sports car of all time. Hands down, not even close. Love the thing. I'm two years waiting on a Z06 and hope my number eventually comes up. The C8 has completely extinguished my flame for exotics. Gone. I want that LT6 in the Z06 just because, but otherwise I couldn't be happier and want for nothing. We used to get a LOT of daily stares and compliments but they've subsided now that they're into MY 3.

I thought my satin-wrapped F12 got a lot of attention... but it has nothing on the Testarossa! People are constantly taking pictures, filming, wanting to talk. It's a moth light to 40-60 year old dudes.
