Looking to upgrade battery and wanted to see if there are any specific brands you guys know of that are some of the best, will probably keep it tendered anyway while not driving but I read on some other threads people go for weeks without tendering, so that brings me to my question

I like Interstate and Optima red top. Those are the best ones I've used in 20 years.

I had Interstate battery (green top) lasted me nearly 12 years. I don’t know if it has something to do with it but it’s always on a better tender when my car is not being driven.

From what I've learned, allowing a battery to deeply discharge multiple times can shorten its life considerably. So a battery tender is always a good idea.

I recently changed my F12 battery and decided to do a little research. I always bought the biggest battery (CCA AND Amp-hours) for a given frame. Found that buying a deep cycling battery was the most important design feature. Always thought it was just a marketing slogan but turns out deep cycle batteries have thicker plates and are designed for applications that continuously discharge like a Ferrari. Non deep cycle have thinner plates and are susceptible to warping under continuous discharge. Could all be BS but I thought I would give it a shot.

The most reliable battery is one that is maintained, and not overheated. A lead-acid battery is a stone-simple device that likes to be ‘comfortable’.

Heat and discharge kill batteries, the brand name has little to do with it.

If you go with something that is not lead-acid, such as lithium, you open up a different can of worms. Lithium batteries require their own set of care criteria, such as a chip-controlled trickle charger. You can’t just put a lithium battery on an old school charger and expect it to last.

tbh, well-maintained WalMart batteries have always done just fine for me.

I was recommended ODYSSEY Extreme batteries after I completed an audio upgrade on a build where I wanted to see “no problems” with the battery.

Very pricey ($300 - $450) and have a great reputation for quality.

Just replaced my Interstate green top lead-acid battery in my '99 Modena.
Previous one lasted 6 years and was always on a (Schumacher) tender. One day it was fine..... the next it just quit. Tender never showed a problem but I have had this happen before with other vehicles in the collection. All have quality tenders, and occasionally one of the batteries dies.

I had a very bad experience with Odyssey. The battery lasted five months and they were **** to deal with when it came to warranty coverage. I’m so pissed off I told them I would trash them every chance I get. Thanks for the opportunity.:)

I was wondering the same thing, probably will be due for a battery in the next year or so on my 812, was thinking of getting a Braille battery (not the lithium version). Anyone have experience with them?

My go batteries for the last 10 years have been costco. They will not have the bat you need but will have aprox amps needed and terminal locations and that's all you need. I even run by diesel truck off 2 costco bats costing $160 for the pair vs. the "right" bat that is 300 each. My diesel truck fires on 2 bats and lives from -20F to 105F. My racecar costco bat. My Ferrari costco bat.

This. I’ve had the same experiences. I would take a well maintained cheap battery over some of the higher end ones that were not.

I have always had very good results with maintaining the batteries on all my vehicles with them lasting avg 5-6 years.

But, the past 3-4 years have been not as good. Even though i do the same battery maintenance and use the same battery tenders and chargers, start them up and drive the same, the batteries have been lasting only half as long.

    Maybe poor quality control.
