5 yrs ago when some of us said same on this forum, we were hassled, harassed, and harangued to no end. Especially when we did so in comparative context to 488. It'll likely happen again as a result of this post from me right here. Watch.

A few weeks ago I sold my 458 Spider (46K miles) and got a ‘19 488 Spider in Blu Abu Dhabi, 900 miles, loaded. Love the 488 driving characteristics, miss the scream of the 458. I only considered doing this because I also have the greatest 458 ever made—the Speciale! (which I’ll never sell) :)

46k miles, so I guess you absolutely hated it :)

I've said it many times over Gents, the 458 is a very special car in Ferrari's storied history. We are fortunate to own one. The article actually missed the fact, that it was the last Pininfarina designed V8 "mid ship model" and the Schumacher input on the steering wheel.

When did you guys get into yours? I bought mine in early March '20, just before the COVID crush.

    Hello Sargepug,

I purchased my 2015 458 Italia in late December, 2019 as a retirement gift to myself. Lucky for me, it was just about at the bottom of the price drop (from new) before the large appreciation in price started.

I drove it back home on an epic 18.5 hour long trip, stopping only for petrol. It was my first time driving a Ferrari and it was simply glorious!

    Cheers!

My 458 had 8,600 on the clock and I was excited to get some extras with it including Ferrari Collection Oz Racing rims, Ferrari Titanium lug bolts and PPF on the full front and all leading edges to the rear.

Other than petrol and insurance , the only cost to me was a Ferrari Collection accessory on the doors that replaces the standard light that projects on the floor with “458 Italia” when the door is opened that the dealership installed. It came with three years of the annual maintenance left and two years of the Power Warranty.

It’s been solid as a rock and has bested the maintenance needs on my beloved SonderKlasse cars! It’s simply amazing and I’m so blessed to have it in my stable. Two years later, I still get a rush when I walk into the car park and see it…

    Cheers!

That is a Ferrari Collection option, cost was about $750 give or take including installation. It requires removal of the existing light lenses under each door.

These are replaced with the precision lenses you choose. IIRC, there were two options for the Italia, one was “458 Italia” and the other was a Prancing Horse.

There may be other options for a Spider, as they are model specific. The Ferrari Collection catalogue is available at any Ferrari dealer and it contains other Ferrari approved options for each model of car.

My Oz Racing rims and the Titanium lug bolts are out of the FC catalogue as well. Lots of goodies in that catalogue! Photo below was taken on carpet, so the line definition is quite poor. On smooth concrete, it’s much better.

Take care and best wishes to you and yours!

    Cheers!

Mine actually came w/ the Novitech system and these huge Forgiatos 21" front and 22" rear. It also came w/ the original rims and tires.
I sold the Forgiatos and painted the stock rims black. Here's the "before and after" and since the after pic was taken, I also put Novitech rear spacers in to properly fill out the wheel well, like in the 3rd pic which is latest and greatest.

    Awesome! Love it!!!

My 458 is mostly stock, save the Ferrari Collection add-ons… The exhaust is original stock as well. I’ve thought about upgrading it, but the dealer told me it would violate the warranty.

As a result, I’ve kept it as purchased except for the “458 Italia” door light changeout. The original buyer had a lot of options in his spec, so I’m pleased with the existing spec.

Congratulations! I could not have described it any better for my 458… There is something magical about 458’s…

Thanks and exhaust wise, I added a Capristo valve controller, which is the perfect compliment to the stock exhaust.
